Project 1 Reflection

1. What is the purpose of the project you created and how do you think the piece achieves

its purpose?

• The purpose of this project was to research employment opportunities in my field

and create and design a resume and cover letter for a specific job in that field. The

resume had to contain information on my qualifications for a position, and a cover

letter had to elaborate on those qualifications by stating why I am the person for

the job.

• This piece achieves its purpose because after finding a job that I would like in my

field, I created the resume and cover letter. This was great practice for the real

world, as I can actually use those creations for a job in the future. Not only do the

pieces expose my skills and show the interviewer what I’m capable of, but while

creating the pieces, it reminded myself of all that I can do. While it achieved its

purpose, it also lifted my self-esteem!

2. Who is the audience? How did this affect your design choices?

• The audience for my two creations (resume and cover letter) is the interviewer

and the company that will hopefully hire me. Given that this is the audience I am
dealing with, I had to stick to a professional product, not something I could

informally give to my best friend.

• This audience affected my design choices, as I had to show all substantial

information while using a relevant and logical format. While providing all my

information, skills and experiences, I had to clean up the format, making it

visually appealing in a goal to get hired. My design was solely based on appealing

the interviewer!

3. What else would you like your instructor to know when evaluating this project?

• When evaluating my project, I would like my instructor to know that I apologize

for not putting my contact info as the header, even though it was clearly stated in

the instructions. I thought it was much more visually appealing on the left, as seen

on my Resume. It was a small sacrifice to make in order to make this more

interesting in the format department.

• This was a good project, not something totally boring like any old English class,

as this actually helps me in life and my career! Building a resume and cover letter

is much more necessary in life than anything else I’ve done in past English

classes. I mean when will reading Angela’s ashes help me more than a resume

and cover letter? Although a great book, there’s no chance of that landing me a

job! So, thank you Shannon for making us do something that’ll actually help in

life!
