Explanation of the Method: Research methodology indicates the general pattern of organizing the procedures
for gathering valid and reliable data for an investigation. This Chapter deals with
a brief description of methodology adopted for the study. The contents included
in this chapter are research approach, research design, the setting, the sample
and sample technique, description of tools, data analysis plan for the present
study. The Researcher in the present study aimed to determine and compare the
prevailing supply chain activities in Cement industry.

Company Profile: Mangalam Cement was incorporated in 1976.Commenced cement production in
1981.Manglam's distribution network is very widely spread out in the country
with over 1000 dealers across various cities and towns. Manglam enjoys a
leadership position in all of the markets that it serves. Mr. Birla took great pride
in the Manglam team, who he said "are committed to preserving the brand's
premium and its market share". The Company has enlisted the support of all of
its business associates. This includes dealers, stockists, retailers, builders and
engineers among others.

Method you will use to classify data: Sampling Method - Simple random sampling was not attempted as the population
comprising undefined number of retailers and is not homogeneous and this
method is not expected to provide a representative miniature of the population.
Method you will use to present data: Sample design is a definite plan before actually collected for obtaining a sample
from a given population. Though census inquiry leaves no element of chance and
highest accuracy is presumed but in actual situation it does not happen so.
Additionally, it has been felt prudent to select few units of the universe/
population for the purpose of study. In other words, sampling has been
attempted. As in the case of Manglam’s cement products there is undefined
number of retailers.
