3. Overview

3. Overview
3.1 Preface
CASH FEVER™ is the ultimate concept in linked gaming from
Atronic and offers an amazing 4-level progressive jackpot.

All available game titles provide a game themed bonus feature

(e.g. freegames, spin as long as you win, etc) and the CASH FE-
VER™ bonus feature.

The CASH FEVER™ bonus is triggered by a scattered symbol

combination (3x CASH FEVER™ symbol) during the base game.
Any bet provides players with the chance to trigger the bonus
games and a chance at one of the jackpots, but higher bets in
the base game provide better chances at winning one of the
4 jackpots.

Once triggered, the player gets randomly 5, 7 or 10 free games

(special reelstrip and special symbols).

All bonus games are played with the same number of lines,
bet per line and play modes as the game that triggered the
bonus session.

As the bonus games are played the credits are accrued on Dr.
CashFever’s Thermometer in the upper screen. Each of the 4
jackpots are triggered in turn when a specific number of cred-
its are awarded during the bonus games - the more credits
won during the bonus games the "hotter" the thermometer
becomes for bigger jackpot wins.

CASH FEVER™ is driven by Atronic's unique internal, in-ma-

chine, progressive controller (APL™). This gives the operator
the option to operate each link without any other equipment
or infrastructure.

In addition CASH FEVER™ can be operated based on any SAS

based progressive controller/system locally or multi-site. The
setup for system based installations is described in a seperate
document named:

• Manual CASH FEVER™ - Setup and Configuration (for sys-

tem based installations)

CASH FEVER™ - Setup and Configuration 7

3. Overview

3.3 Important Configuration Notes

When configuring a CASH FEVER™ installation, there are a few
things to consider:

3.3.1 Progressive Calculation

The CASH FEVER™ progressive parameters are calculated by
means of the Atronic Progressive Calculation Sheet. Dur-
ing order processing you received a copy of this calculation
sheet which determines the parameters for a particular CASH
FEVER™ installation. To avoid incorrect payout percentages,
please do not use any other values than stated in this docu-
ment. If an alteration of the progressive parameters becomes
necessary, please ask your local sales represantative for a re-
calculation.

3.3.2 Base Values

The base values of the 4 progressive jackpot levels are not ad-
justable, as they are essential elements of the paytable.
The base values are defined by the configuration code which
has been determined during order processing by means of
the Progressive Calculation Sheet.

3.3.3 Configuration Code

The Configuration Code is set during the initial setup of each
CASH FEVER™ game (see also chapter 6.3.2 "Initial Setup - Re-
quired Settings"). It determines the base values and the trigger
values of the 4 progressive jackpot levels (mini, minor, major,
grand) and the trigger frequency of the CASH FEVER™ bonus.
Do not use any other configuration codes than stated in the
Atronic Progressive Calculation Sheet.

3.3.4 Jackpot Handpays

The threshold value for jackpot handpays is determined by
the Celebration Limit setting. A win that exceeds this limit will
trigger a jackpot handpay independent from the progressive
jackpot level that was hit. See also chapter 9.1.1 "Recommend-
ed Service Menu Settings" or the corresponding software
manual.

3.3.5 Older Commboard Software

If you use one of the following commboard software ver-
sions,
• HCB-Q_-S5-MR-STD_-E-08A
• HCB-Q_-S5-MT-STD_-E-08A
• HCB-Q_-S6-MG-STD_-F-08A
• HCB-Q_-S6-MH-STD_-F-08A
you have to edit one of the Media Controller configuration
files. Please refer to section 10.4 Older Commboard Software.

4. Setup

4. Setup
4.1 Atronic Progressive Link™ (APL™)
4.1.1 What is APL™?
The CASH FEVER™ links use Atronic Progressive Link™ (APL™)
technology to link the participating gaming machines. APL™
provides a very simple way to link Atronic games to a local
area progressive.

Setting up a progressive using the APL™ is quite easy as the

internal progressive system is operated via the commboard
of the machine. By simply linking directly from one machine
commboard to another, up to 20 CASH FEVER™ games can be
linked to a progressive. The APL™ requires no external control-
ler.

The APL™ is designed to be flexible and user friendly and op-

erates with one machine acting as the master and the other
machines in the link as slaves. The decision about which game
is the master is not pre determined and can therefore be se-
lected via a dipswitch on the commboard. More importantly
if the master machine fails, another machine in the link can be
appointed as the master via the dipswitch so no data is lost
and the progressive remaines active.

The entire setup of the progressive jackpot and configuration

for all the machines in the link is carried out on the master ma-
chine via a connection between a PC and the mainboard.

The progressive jackpot is automatically displayed via an on-

screen meter (utilizing e-motion™ dual screen technology)
and one or more plasma screens.

4.1.2 CASH FEVER™ Link Size

Minimum Link Size 4 machines

Recommended Link Size 8 - 12 machines
Maximum Link Size (APL based) 20 machines

4.1.3 Wiring Diagram

This figure shows the wiring diagram of a typical CASH FEVER™ APL™ link.

* If less than 16 EGMs are linked, the APL power supply can be connected at either ends of the link
or in the middle of the link.

** If 16 to 20 EGM are linked the APL power supply has to be connected in the middle of the link,
using a RJ-45 Y-adapter (Adapter WE8 - 2 WE8).

6. Machine Setup

6. Machine Setup
This section describes how to carry out a RAM Reset and the
Initial Setup which is required to configure basic machine set-
tings and carry out jackpot configuration.

6.1 Overview
Atronic machines usually come configured as specified with
the order. However it may be necessary to re-configure basic
machine settings, such as denomination, metering, paytable,
etc. These settings can not be altered during normal opera-
tion, as they require a machine reinitialisation for technical or
jurisdictional reasons. Applying new progressive jackpot set-
tings also requires a RAM Reset.

To re-configure basic machine and jackpot settings:

1. Perform a RAM Reset

This will clear all machine data, statistics and settings, in-
cluding progressive jackpot configuration.

2. Carry out the Initial Setup

After a RAM Reset has been performed, the machine au-
tomatically enters the Initial Setup menu. The Initial Setup
allows to configure all basic machine setting.

3. Jackpot Configuration
After the Initial Setup has been carried out, it is necessary
to carry out the progressive jackpot configuration. Do not
insert credits before the jackpot configuration is done.

In an APL™ link the jackpot configuration has to be car-

ried out at the APL™ master machine only. The jackpot
configuration is then transferred to all linked APL™ slave
machines.

When the last setting has been configured, the Initial Setup
Summary page is displayed.

Important: Carefully check all settings before you

confirm the Initial Setup summary. The settings
can not be changed after confirming the sum-
mary.

After the Initial Setup has been carried out the machine ini-
tializes and locks with the error message "APL: Configuration

9.1.1 Recommended Service Menu Settings

Celebration Limit
The celebration limit determines the threshold for jackpot
handpays (if Destination = Handpay). A win exceeding the
celebration limit initiates a win celebration and needs to be
acknowledged by an attendant using the jackpot key.

Important: A progressive jackpot win does not

automatically initiate a handpay! The win amount
has to exceed the celebration limit, in order to ini-
tiate a jackpot handpay.

You may adjust the celebration limit settings to meet the re-
quirement of your operations.

Example: You want to have the lower three progressive jackpot

levels machine paid and the highest progressive level hand paid:

1. Adjust the lower celebration limit to the base value of the

highest progressive jackpot level (in currency).

2. Set the celebration limit destination to HANDPAY.

11.2 Change APL™ Master Machine

This section describes how to change the APL™ master ma-
chine in an APL™ link. This may be necessary, if the primary
master machine is defective or if the media controller is to be
connected to another machine.

1. Open the Jackpot Statistics menu (see chapter 11.1 "Jack-

pot Statistics") and write down all values.

2. Power down the primary APL™ master machine. All ma-

chines in the link display "Master not ready" and will be
locked until a new APL™ master is configured.

3. Remove the Alink™ cabling from the primary master ma-

chine and run the Alink™ cable to the next machine to
close the Alink™ connection. See chapter 4.1.4 "Comm-
board Wiring Diagram" for details.

4. Remove the cabling to the media controller and the OH

Displayboard from the commboard of the primary master
machine. If necessary you can now remove the primary
master machine from the floor.

5. Power down the machine which is to be configured as the

new master machine.

6. Set commboard DIP switch S5/4 to ON at the new mas-

ter machine. Install the OH Displayboard and connect the
media controller as described in chapter 5.4 "Connect the
Media Controller".

7. Power up the new master machine. When the new master

machine is up, the entire link should be operational. If any
error message is displayed, please refer to chapter 11.3
"APL™ Troubleshooting".

8. Open the Jackpot Statistics menu and verify all jackpot

values.

11.3 APL™ Troubleshooting

This section lists the error messages caused by an APL™ link
and how to solve them.

APL: Duplicate Slave ID detected

This message occurs if at least two slave machines have the
same APL™ progressive address.

Solution: Change the APL™ progressive addresses by means

of the commboard rotary switches S1 and S2. Each machine
in the link must have a unique address from "01" to "32". Pow-
ercycle both machines with the duplicate addresses for new
initializing.

APL: Link Not Allowed

The installed security device does not allow a progressive link
or does not support the link concept (for example CASH FE-
VER™, Hot Link™, etc.).

Solution: Install a security device that allows a progressive link

and supports the link concept. Please contact your Atronic
local sales representative to obtain appropriate game soft-
ware.

APL: Configuration required

Jackpot configuration is missing.

Solution: Carry out a jackpot configuration.

ALINK: Duplicate terminal ID detected

This message occurs, if at least two machines are defined as
APL™ master (commboard DIP-switch S5/4 set to ON).

Solution: Ensure that only one machine in the link is defined

as APL™ master.

Solution:
• Check the cabling and make sure the link is set up cor-
rectly.
• Connect the APL™ power supply.
• Define one APL™ master machine in the link.
• Power up the APL™ master machine.

ALINK: Please set valid terminal ID 1..32

The APL™ progressive address has been set to "0" or higher
than "32".

Solution: Set the APL™ progressive address to an address be-

tween "01" and "32" with commboard rotary switches S1 and
S2.

Memory must be reset - New JP-Mode

You have altered the commboard DIP switch settings to a dif-
ferent jackpot mode without performing a RAM Reset.

Solution: Reconfigure the commboard to the previous DIP

switch settings or carry out a RAM Reset to apply the new jack-
pot mode.
