1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology coaching and technology leadership from completing this field
experience?

After speaking with a former colleague, who is now a middle school teacher, about the issues faced when using technology in his classroom, he stated that
students often give up on technology if the log-on process is not smooth. Often times, if entering their credentials does not run smoothly or if the wifi is not
instantly connected, the students become hesitant to use technology and will give excuses why they are unable to work. To combat this issue, I created a
poster for the teacher to use to help the students go through the log in process. I learned that sometimes teachers will become frustrated if the students’ initial
encounter with technology is not positive. This causes teachers to revert back to a low technology classroom.

2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge (what must you know), skills (what must you be able to do) and dispositions (attitudes, beliefs,
enthusiasm) required of a technology facilitator or technology leader? (Refer to the standards you selected above. Use the language of the PSC
standards in your answer and reflect on all 3—knowledge, skills, and dispositions.)

Knowledge -
The knowledge necessary to complete this field experience was basic troubleshooting skills. I needed to be able to anticipate the problems and know how to
solve the known problems. The skills needed for this field experience was how to listen to Mr. Smith and his technology frustrations. I also needed the skills
of how to troubleshoot the frustrations. The disposition needed for this field experience is the flexibility to try to solve basic technology problems, regardless
of how small they are. Because the use of technology is fairly new, people are at varying levels of comfort in using it, teachers and students included. To be
a successful technology leader, it is important to offer comfort and support to all levels of technology users.

3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement, faculty development or student learning at your school. How can the impact be
assessed?

This field experience positively impacts student learning and faculty development at this middle school in Clarke County. This field experience helped to
ease some of the frustrations for students and teachers when they log on to the Microsoft Surface tablets. The impact can be assessed by observing if students
are able to log on without issues and if they do have issues, they can self-manage because of the troubleshooting poster.
