Calculation of LNG Supply from Loading Terminal to Power Plant Name : Hilda Gl
On this assignment, we will do a calculation and plan about LNG supply from loading terminal to
electricity power plant. Three alternative by truck, by pipeline and by barge transport will be calculate
here. The one of advantage condition will chossen from this alternative.
LNG Conversion
2. OBJECTIVES
This is the first assignment for LNG Technology lecture, and the objectives from this assignment are:
1. Student can calculate and do a unit conversion by right from a case study is choosen.
2. Student can plan or design a simple LNG supply chain from loading terminal to electricity power plant.

4. Conclusion
From the calculation about design of LNG supply chain from Bontang - Gresik - PLTG Grati, can
be concluded as several of these statements below:
a. Total LNG Carrier used is one, with its capacity 19.100 m3. The carrier's price is US $ 4.049.200
b. Total storage tank used is 311 tanks, with its capacity is 50.000 liters.
The total storage tank's price is US $ 2.803.292
c. The income comparasionfrom three alternative:
= 1st alternative : 2nd alternative : 3th alternative
= by truck : by pipelines : by barge
= US $ 82,074,823 : US $ 45,127,745 : US $ 82,722,663
The 3th alternative by barge give highest income betwen the other.
So, the transport of LNG from the receiving terminal to the power plant is recommended to by barge.

Assignment 1 LNG
Name : Hilda Gloria N.TH (4213100047)
A power plant having a capacity of 200 MW to be supplied by natural Gas from LNG terminal with the distance of
200 km, if the LNG will be transported by LNG trucks of 20 m3 for each, Design the LNG chain it be assumed the
average speed of trucks 40km/hour. What is the cost of the LNG required by the power plant for 1 year? compare the
LNG chain if we are going transport to LNG barge?
Page 12 of 10
= 14.00 hours
If per truck 2 x trip per day = 28 hours per day
80
So, total truck needed = = 40 units
2
Driver = 40 persons
Monthly salary = US $ 280 / person
Total driver's salary = 40 x 280
= US $ 11,200 / month
Total driver's salary/year = US $ 134,400 / year
Income calculation in 1st y = LNG price – (Investment cost + transportation cost + maintenance cost +
driver's salary)
= US $ 79,330,780
Page 13 of 10
Total barge needed = = = 10 units
Barge capacity 80
Time for one barge = 2 + 6.00 + 2 + 6.00
= 16.00 hours
If per barge 2 x trip per day = 32 hours per day
10
So, total barge needed = = 5 units

3.1 Total cost
Price of one barge = US $ 50,000
Investment for barge = total barge x price of one barge
= 5 x 50,000
= US $ 250,000
Regasification unit = US $ 200,000
High pressure pump = US $ 28,000
Low pressure pump = US $ 26,500
BOG compresssor = Investment
US $ 25,000
of barge+raragasification unit+high pressure pump+low
Total cost = pressure pump+BOG compressor
US $ 529,500
Fuel cost = US $ 0.5 / liter
Fuel consuption = 0.4 liters/km
Distance = 200 km 108 nm
Distce. One barge / day = 200 x 2 x 2 = 800 km/day
Total fuel cost = 800 x 5 x 0.4 x 0.5
= US $ 736 / day
= US $ 268,640 / year
Estimate for maintenance one barge per year = 10% price one barge.
So, maintenance cost for total barge per year = 10% x US $ 250,000
= US $ 25,000
Income calculation 1st year = LNG price – (Investment cost + transportation cost + maintenance cost +
crew's salary)
= US $ 82,811,460
Barge specification
Length = 20 m

Depth = 2.6 m
Max capacity = 60 ton

So, if the natural gas transported by :
