Kamal and Rajan were cyling along the river. They wanted to go fishing.
They brought along their fishing-rods, a pail and a can of worms as bait for the fish.
They saw a shady tree and parked their bicycles under the tree. They put their
fishing-rods against the tree. Kamal took of his shoes and went to the edge of the
river which was slippery. Suddenly, he slipped and fell into the river. Rajan ran
quickly to his aid. He shouted for help. A passer-by heard Rajan’s shouts. He jumped
into the river and saved Kamal. Kamal was grateful that he was alive and thanked the
man profusely.

Last December was Polly’s birthday. She was very excited. Father bought
her a colourful parrot as a gift. Polly kept it in a bamboo cage. One day when she
came home from school, she noticed that her parrot was missing. She was shocked.

Then, she realised that she had forgotten to lock the cage. Polly was very
sad and started crying. Her mother comforted her and advised her to be more careful
in future. She promised her that she would buy her another parrot to replace the lost
one.

Johari’s hobby is reading. One night, he was reading a story about
giants. Then he fell asleep. Johari had a dream. He dreamt that he was caught by a
giant. He was struggling free from the giant. He was calling for help in his sleep. His

to his room. They could not believe their eyes when they saw him asleep. His mother
woke him up. Johari was very surprised when he saw them by his bedside. His

Imran is a very mischievous boy. One day, he saw some ripe and juicy
mangoes. He wanted to steal the mangoes. He climbed over the fence ignoring the
signboard in the orchard.
Suddenly, he felt a sharp pain in his leg. He had stepped on an ants nest. He
screamed in pain. Pak Din heard his cries and helped him. He took him into his
house and put some ointment on his leg. Imran was ashamed and apologised to Pak
Din. He promised never to steal again.

During the holidays, Ali and Ani visited their grandparents. They were
very excited. They played in the paddy fields. They climbed the fruit trees and plucked
the delicious fruits. The air was fresh and clean in the village. They enjoyed

take them to visit their grandparents again the next holidays. Their grandparents gave
them lots of fruits and vegetables. Ali and Ani were glad because they had a

and ran away. The boys woke up to find their belongings gone. Luckily, they brought
