Blind Ambition takeover

Everyone has at least one desire that they would do anything to have- that is called blind

ambition. Blind ambition is the desire to attain something at any cost, whether that be hurting

others or one’s own mental and physical wellbeing. Blind ambition is never good for anyone.

Macbeth is the story of a Scottish knight that is told by witches that he would be king. Upon

hearing that, Macbeth does what he believes is necessary to be king. His blind ambition leads

him to kill the current king as well as anyone he considers a “ threat”. Macbeth aggressive

ambition is not just in novels but in real life such as dictators, traitors, and everyday people.

Blind ambition has always been prominent in history, such as a dictator on the conquest

to take over the world. Adolf Hitler was a man with blind ambition so aggressive, it cost the lives

of over 17 million. Hitler rose to power based on a belief spread throughout all of Germany talks

included “ According to the myth, Germany did not lose war on the battlefield, but through

betrayal at the home front. The jews, social democrats, and communist were held

responsible”(“operation Barbarossa” annefrank.org). The strong belief in that idea is what set

Hitler up in the rise for power, and with the common enemy for Germany to attack, Hitler can

follow is the path to prove Germany’s greatness. Hitler’s desire to prove Germany superiority by

conquering lead to his greatest downfall that also costed him the lives of his men, in a rushed

attack on Russia. Operation Barbarossa has been recounted as “by the time, however, winter was

taking its toll on the German army, of whom over 700,000 had already been

lost”(Historyhit.com). Hitler fears that if Britain, Russia, and the us were prepared, he would lose

the war, so in the rushing attack, it cost him his victory. Blind ambition has been seen throughout

history even as early as the start of America.

The creation of America was created on the blind ambition of European settlers in the

hopes of escaping Britain control. The new travelers with the desire to save themselves from

unknowingly hurt the natives already there. It was described in found in a journal “ many tribes

were destroyed by constant warfare and catastrophic diseases.”(Wvculture.org). The European’s

took land to fit their needs by killing the settlers and poising then, simply to serve their own

lives. However the invasion did not stop there, after freeing themselves from Britain, the colonist

decided to go for a bigger idea, the rest of the country. The colonist had a term called manifest

destiny which was described as “ manifest destiny held that the united states were destined – by

God, its advocates believed – to expand its dominion and spread democracy and capitalism

across the entire North America continent”(History.com). The United States was so blind by the

desire to expand, it seemed to them it was their god given the the the the order to do so. While

blind ambition can reach a scale of genocide it can be smaller on a scale of more emotional

harm.

Sam Raimi the director of Evil Dead one of the most influential horror film put himself

and crew members to get his desired movie. Blind ambition is not just harming others it can its

harming yourself. In a released interview, the cast of evil dead said “the director stayed up all

night shooting and wrote all day, basically working himself 24/7. To wake him up, the crew

would took an ice cold bucket of water and threw it at him, and left him there until he regained

consciousness.”(mentalfloss.com). Sam Raimi was so deeply devoted to producing an influential

film, he put himself in harm. But the harming didn’t stop there it filming the movie was also

mentally and emotionally taxing on the actors and fellow crew members. It was released on an

IMDB about the conditions the cast had to go through when shooting such as “According to cast

and crew members, this was one of the worst experiences they’d ever been involved in due to

freezing temperatures, the locale, and Sam Raimi’s filming took hours.” Sam Raimi put his crew

through torture to get his ideal shot and only ever took his the feelings of his actors into

consideration if it meant getting a more organic shot. The blind ambition that meant to achieve

something influential is the most dangerous kind of ambition

No matter the scale of danger whether it being global, countrywide or individually blind

ambition is not a fictional trait tied only to novels. Every person willing to achieve something

great will not fall whether proving the strength of a nation, surviving no matter who is in your

way or changing the world of film making through awful methods it all requires blind ambition.

Just as Macbeth did to take the crown and keep it. In all of this, there is something to be learned.

Great things come to those who wait, any impatience for greatness will only bring upon their

downfall.
