Problems of Dating Age

The dating age has always been a problem because is a normal thing that we see in our

everyday, but the real problem is when to start dating. This is a problem that affects all

teenagers’ girls and boys. This happens because when they start dating they need someone to

teach them what is okay and what is not okay for example; they start dating older people because

the teenager wants to be mature and they start doing things they are not supposed to do like have

sex, do drugs, drink alcohol, go out too late at nights, etc. This issue has existed all the times but

in the past nobody see this like a problem because parents used to negotiate the marriages of the

girls with men who offers better thing for the family. It exist in the whole world and it affects all

teenagers. The cause of the problem is that teenagers need orientation about dating and sexuality

because they wants to experience but they do not really know nothing about this topic and

because of that the adults take advantage of them.

Younger people want to be more mature than people their own age so that is why the

older people take advantage of the teenagers. This could lead to other things such as rape or

kidnapping. I believe that the government will protect more the teenagers because I think there

are adults who want to take advantage. People can think that is okay but teenagers are in danger

and the government will set a law to protect teenagers. I think that the government should set a

good dating age. I also believe that 16 years old is a good age to start dating because it is not too

young and not too old. The government should set a dating age for when to start dating because

sometimes older people take advantage of the younger people's innocence.

When teenagers date adult they do not really understand when it is a relationship or a

way for them to take advantage of the situations, because in today’s dating world is so common

that girls date older man just because they give the money and the girls do not have to worry

about how to earn money by themselves . The age gap between an adult and a teenager is

different with two people of the same age because it is more realistic and honest because the

older can have the confidence that your partner is not with you for interests (economic) or

whether the minor can have the confidence that your partner is not with you because of your

youth (beauty, adventure).

According to Boyd, “ In today’s dating world, there is no clear-cut line for when an age gap in a

romantic relationship goes beyond the socially acceptable and becomes really creepy.”

Today, people see that is so common that 13 year old girls are going out with men that are age 20

years old or older and they go beyond the boundaries of a relationship. When an adult dates a

teenager, the decisions you take in the relationship may lead you to making a mistake and have

legal consequences. According to Miranda, “Teens and young adults sometimes are not aware of

the possible criminal consequences of dating someone under their age.” When men find someone

younger they think about having a future but between that age gaps they do not understand the

quality of love. Sometimes the girls just want to live life, be free, hang out with her friends, have

adventures, etc...They do not really think of having a family because they are young and have the

mentality that they have a long time left to live and experience those kind of things. Having a

relationship with a person of your same age is better, because it is more realistic and they

experience new thing together, no one before than other and that is pretty good because they

show that none of them is superior of the other just because knows more things.

The older people that date young people will have consequences of what they are doing

and some of they can be legal consequences. People need to know that what they are doing is

wrong and they are causing bad things to the teenagers, they can cause psychological problems

and also ruin the reputation of both. According to Miranda, “When there is sexting, there is

probably physical contact happening, too...depending on the age of those involved, the acts can

be illegal.” This shows that this dating age is a problem because in this days is common that

older people are contacting minors to send nudes pictures which is illegal. The majority of

teenagers are not mature enough and they are impulsive so if they have problems with their

partner they will not control their feelings and that can lead the adults to criminal consequences.

According to Miranda, “Teens and young adults sometimes are not aware of the possible

consequences of dating someone underage… what seems like high school romance can lead to a

felony conviction and having a registry as a sexual offender.” The adults does know about the

laws and what they are doing so they take the risk and know that they will have bad

consequences. And if there are people responsible for everything that happens to them, they are

the ones who are mature because they know very well what they do and even then they still do it.

If an adult has a love or sexual relationship with a teenager he or she may be involved in with

serious and legal consequences; because although the adolescent agrees with the things that are

happening between the two, this is an abuse towards the minor since he is not completely mature

and he is not sure of what is right and what is best for them.

The advantages of having a relationship between an adult and a teenager are greater

because you will share about your different lives and all the amazing experiences that both have

lived in your life. The old people wants to convince everyone that love is love and that the age

gap does not matter, they say that when there is love it all can work out well. According to Papa,

“Experts say that compatibility between two people who just happen to have an age gap is not as

unusual as we may think.” This shows that people see this issue like something that is right...

Yes, today is normal but that does not mean right and nobody is doing nothing to stop this issue,

that is the reason people is just getting used to living this way. The teenagers or youth are more

open-minded and that may be a problem in the most situations in life because sometimes it is not

good to be open-minded since there is a lot of badness and there may be consequences because

being open-minded you do not realize the risks that there may be. According to Papa, “Younger

partners may be more open-minded about the idea of lending a hand in step-parenting your

kids… A younger partner in an adoption situation is probably going to have more energy to

devote to the ups and downs of that journey.” They are not mature enough to educate a kid

because they are too open-minded and adventurous, so they really do not realize about all the

consequences that they could have in their lives. The difference of age in a relationship can be a

very big problem because of the different ways of thinking of the two people, since they were

born in different times.

In other hands women will have the security of having a good life with a man that gives

her all she needs because she will not worry for nothing…Women see adult man like a solution

to their problems and to their lives, like men have the answer of life but that is not true and that is

not a good reason to date someone, but for a lot of girls this it is a good reason. An older man

wants the security in their lives of having a permanent partner, and the desire is what is often

missing in men your own age. Adults are determined, they know what they really want so they

will not be playing with women. He will make you feel safe about your future because he will

take care of everything and the decisions will be made with greater maturity. According to Ward,

“Older men are well aware of their family’s dynamics… you will not feel the pressure because

he will be like a magician, handling the tough without you even knowing he is doing it”. The

older man knows how to make a family and how to make it work because he has already

experienced that so things will turn out well. The adult will take all the control and responsibility

over the family things and will take care that nothing is needed, he will be the one that provides

everything and will take care too that all the things in your lives work out.

For example, it is better having a relationship with someone with your same age or one or

two years of difference because both will experience the same things at a same time. Both will

grow up together. It is going to be a healthy relationship because to both all will be new so

together they will go forward.

In conclusion when teenagers date adults they do not really understand when its

relationship or a way for them to take advantage of the situations, because in today’s dating

world is so common that girls date older man just because they give the money and the girls do

not have to worry about how to earn money by themselves. The older people that dates young

people will have consequences of what they are doing and some of they can be legal

The government should set a good dating age, like the age of a 16 years old is a good age

because it is not too young but not too old. So, the government will protect more the teenagers of

the adults that want to take advantage. Because some people can think that this is okay but the

reality is that the teenagers are in danger because they will lose their innocence and years of their

adolescence.
