Supplies Needed
● A sound system
● A projection screen and projector
● A computer

Activity Description
1. Introduce yourself and the activity to the group of participants.
2. Have all of the participants divide themselves into two groups.
3. On the computer, do a YouTube search. Type in the words “ What is the name of the
song?” into the YouTube search bar.
4. Turn on the projector to display the YouTube video.
5. During the course of the video, 6 second snippets of popular songs will play while a
black screen with a question mark displays in the background of the video.
6. The participants will then have to quickly guess the name of the song. After they figure
out the name of the song, they must raise their hand and say the name of the song and the
artist who sings the song.
7. The quickest participant who raises their hand and guesses the correct artist and song
receives one point for their team.
8. The YouTube video will play 15 songs and the participants should follow this sequence
of guessing until the end of the video.
9. The team with the highest amount of points wins the game.
10. After this activity the leader will debrief this activity.
Interaction Patterns
This activity has intergroup activity patterns as this game is of a competitive nature that involves
two groups of participants. The groups of participants must work together to successfully guess
the name of each song. This activity is also of competitive nature as the members of each group
try to gain enough points for their team to win the game.

Leadership Considerations

1. Knowledge on the music preferences of the group of participants is crucial to

successful implementation of this activity.

Adaptation: For individuals with advanced stage alzheimer's, this activity could be implemented
by playing songs all from the same artist. All of these songs could be from the favorite artist/s of
the group of participants. With additional sessions the participants could then be asked to name
the artist who is singing these songs. This activity could be done in conjunction with
reminiscence as the leader prompts the participants to discuss what memories are tied with
certain songs. The leader of this activity can also suggest the name of the artist/s of the songs to
create conversation amongst the participants.
