ENC1102: Composition II: Situated Inquiry of Writing & Rhetoric - Five Sections
This course features a focus on extensive research in analytical and argumentative
writing based on a variety of readings from the humanities. Emphasis on
developing critical thinking and diversity of perspective. In addition to generating
new knowledge, the research process also provides opportunities for students to
interrogate and revise their own conceptions of writing and research.

ENC1101: Composition I - Three sections

In underscoring effective communication and critical thinking through writing,
ENC 1101 develops students’ knowledge of what writing is and how it functions
in the world. By examining writing and rhetorical theory as an object of study,
this course invites students to understand their writing as situated within
academic, professional, civic, and personal contexts. Students are also asked to
consider their identities and abilities as writers across these settings, particularly
at the intersections of gender, race, and class.
