Assignment Title: Q3 End of Unit: Macbeth essay

Student Writing Goal: My writing goal is to score an 80% or higher on my mid-unit and end of unit assessments. I
would also like to improve on my writing skills and to stay on task with the prompt. Lastly I want to improve on my
vocabulary skills.

Instructions:
1) Re-read the paper (and teacher feedback).
2) Complete this reflection sheet.
3) Revise the paper accordingly and highlight any changes.
4) Submit the revision and this reflection sheet.

What was the purpose of this writing assignment?

The purpose of this writing assignment was to open our eyes into real world alternatives relating to Macbeth.
Although I did fate, there was still a lot of example I choose for todays’ society. It opened my eyes to see the
different things people look up to for their fate. This paper showed me there are many people who have
different beliefs, that it is not only religion. Whenever I think about fate, I will go back and relate to this
paper.

How did you perform in relation to the expectations of the writing rubric?
I feel as if my paper did not have enough information. Although I had just enough examples, I know I could
have probably thought out my research better and came up with a better thesis. However, fate is a hard theme
my sentence structure and vocabulary could have been stronger. As far as grammar, I could have definitely
proof-read my work a lot more. I also should have stayed on task and go this essay done a lot faster, maybe
then I would not have rushed it.

What aspect of this piece did you do well? (give example/quotes to support claims)
I really admire my thesis, which is, “Macbeth’s universal theme of fate is also seen today, in religion,
spiritual beliefs, and science/technology”. I believe my thesis was very straightforward and to the point. I
think it would be easy for the reader to comprehend what my entire essay will be on. It shows I have
knowledge on the topic and they would not have to spend so much time trying to understand what the essay
will be on.

Why have you/haven’t you chosen to revise this writing assignment?

I revised this assignment because my essay needed to be cleaned up a little bit and relooked at. I will not be
using this for my extended essay because it is a resume because I personally believe this essay will be far too
difficult to extend.

What will you do better in your next writing assignment, and how will I do it?
After looking over my work now and reflecting on this piece, definitely, yes. This was my one of my last
assessment of the semester and I was not on task. I did minimal work just to get the job done and get a grade
for it. However, now I see that the school year is almost over and I cannot just slack off. Had I taken this
essay seriously the first time, I would have an A in class not a C. I could have taken advantage of this
assignment to explore the different journeys people go through to determine their fate. In the future, I will
take all writing assignments serious as I know each piece is practice to continue my progress as a writer. I
will make sure that I stay focused on the prompts on all of my essays and use textual evidence – as we know,
everything needs to be supported with evidence.

To what degree of success did you achieve your previously stated goal(s)?
