Assignment Title: Q1 Mid-Unit Resume

Student Writing Goal:

My writing goal is to learn how to elaborate a job application and score a 90% or higher on all assessments. I
want to stay on topic my entire paper and use enough textual evidence and arguments with little grammar
mistakes in my resume because the last time I lost points in organization.

What was the purpose of this writing assignment?

The purpose of this writing assignment was to prepare me to elaborate a job application. I am planning to get
a summer job this year keep it throughout college as a part-time job. This resume will support me to be
prepared for the application and interview process. Whenever I decide to get a job, I will be able to use this
resume as a base with my education and experiences. In this job applications I will demonstrate my interest in
the company or specific vacancy, and introduce myself naturally

How did you perform in relation to the expectations of the writing rubric?
I believe that I presented myself in a formal way, since the applications requires a good first impression. I feel
that my resume did not have the correct information. Actually, I had a job before, I know I could have
probably added more of my past job experiences to my resume, so I should have included anything that might
have helped me. As a grammar, I could have certainly challenge me on my work a lot more. I also should
have continue focused on my resume and made it more formal and professional.

What aspect of this piece did you do well? (give example/quotes to support claims)
I did well in my objectives, and descriptions of my skills and abilities. I really like my objective, which is “
An honest, responsible, and hardworking high school graduate seeking a part-time positions as sales associate
in a clothing store.” I believe my objective was very clear and honest. An employer would appreciate that my
resume was directed specifically and that I love clothing sales and to socialize with costumers and associated
people. It shows I have motivation and enthusiasm in this field and they would not have to lose so much time
explaining me how to do the job.

Why have you/haven’t you chosen to revise this writing assignment?

It is because I wanted to fix what I got wrong as my punctuation, grammar, etc.

What will you do better in your next writing assignment, and how will I do it?
While I was checking my work now and reflecting on this resume, obviously, yes. This assignment was my
first of the last semester and I was not concentrated. Honestly, I did not give my best. I did minimal work just
to get a grade and the assignment done. However, now I realize how important this resume is because it could
set me up for all future jobs. If at first I had taken this job more seriously, it would have been easier for me to
fix minimal mistakes. I could have taken advantage of this assignment. Also, I will take all writing
assignments serious as I know each piece of work is practice to continue my progress in my grammar. At
least, I will make sure that I stay focused on the prompts on all of my essays and use textual evidence I will
try to be more original on my paragraphs and develop better grammatical and original work.

To what degree of success did you achieve your previously stated goal(s)?
My goal was to score a 95% on all assessments and I did not achieve that goal with this resume. I scored an
85%. The first time, I caught some grammar mistakes. I lacked organization in my resume and there were a
few sentences. Honestly, I did not follow my teacher’s expectations when she mentioned the steps to
elaborate the resume. I do not want to feel as if I am failing the work expectations. I recognize that I need to
read the prompts over and over again until I stay focused and clear on the purpose of every assignment.
