Assignment Title: Social Issue

Student Writing Goal: My writing goal is to score an 85% or higher on all my assignments. I want to be more of a
creative writer. I also want to include enough examples and fully explain the quotes I include in my writing.

Instructions:
1) Re-read the paper (and teacher feedback).
2) Complete this reflection sheet.

What was the purpose of this writing assignment?

The purpose of this writing assignment was to speak about a social issue and the opposing views on it. I
decided to speak about social medias positive and negative effects. Although my main focus was on pointing
out the negative effects I did include some good things about social media on my paper.

How did you perform in relation to the expectations of the writing rubric?
Overall I did a good job but I did miss some points. I think I should’ve been a little clearer when explaining
the quotes I used. Also I in making sure I was quoting everything correctly. Those are the two main things
that I think I did wrong when looking back at the rubric. I also had some miss spelling which affected my
grade.

What aspect of this piece did you do well? (give example/quotes to support claims)
What I liked most about this essay was my rebuttal. For example when I said, “It is also true that it can
prepare someone for the work force, however, it can also damage the work place environment because of
arguments between co-workers on social media”. I liked that it made me look like a reasonable person. By
stating both sides of the effects the reader can see that I understand the opposing view.

Why have you/haven’t you chosen to revise this writing assignment?

I chose to revise this writing assignment because after seeing my grade I understood there were some things I
could revise. I also thought it would be a good opportunity to learn from my mistakes so that it will not
happen again.

What will you do better in your next writing assignment, and how will I do it?
In my next writing assignment I will try my best to have all correct grammar. Also I want to thoroughly
explain my in text citations to give the reader a better understanding of what I am trying to say. I also will
make sure to ask at least three people to revise it before I submit it.
To what degree of success did you achieve your previously stated goal(s)?
I thankfully did achieve my goal on this assignment. I was 5 points away from getting 100%. I honestly
could’ve scored 100% if I would’ve revised my paper but either way a 95 is not too bad. The part of my goal
that I didn’t reach was the one about fully explaining my quotes. I can still use improvement on that part of
my goal.
