Reflection Paper Assignment

Overall this class has taught me so much. There is so many things that not only will help me

through college but with my career in general. I learned how use brand new applications that I

have never even touched before, then adding onto what I already knew in other applications.

Starting off with word this is one I knew a decent amount about. I did learn new things though

more behind the scenes. I learned how to see what the reading level is of what you have written

which will come in handy when teaching. I also learned how to easily make an apa reference page.

That has already come in handy with all my other classes. The next thing is PowerPoint, which is

another application that I knew the basics to as well. One thing that I did learn though was how to

make a short cut from the table of contents to the other slides that we could just skip to. The last

one that I knew the basics to was Photoshop. By the basics I mean I knew how to add text on a

transparent background. I know there is still so much to learn but I am so taken away by the new

things I have learned. With the picture of us taking out the piercing that was fun and I can see how

others get addicted to photoshopping their photos. With all these applications there were names

that I was unaware of. The tools and the actual terms used were new to me. This comes in handy

when trying to help others with where to go and what to use. It is also important to know the correct

terminology.

The new applications that I learned everything from scratch were Publisher and excel. With

Publisher there are so many things that you can make and show off you knowledge of something.

I made two brochures and it was so fun to use an application that has a design element to it. Not

only can you make brochures, but anything from a menu to a certificate. I think will come in handy

in the future. Not everything will come in handy I do not think that I will need to make a menu but

it would be a good activity to use with my students when it comes to learning how to spell foods.

The other application was Excel. This one shocked me with how many things that can be

accomplished with this application. Now along with all the hard work it does for you, there is so

much for you to remember as well. That I think is going to be the hardest part for me. All the short

cut terms that come after the equal signs is something I will have to work on with remembering.

This is another application that I can use in the my future career. Not so much with the students

themselves but with keeping data whether that is with their test scores and finding out the min,

max, and the average to help see what the students know.
