2-1 INSTALLATION
! CAUTION
When performing installations, route field wiring away from sharp projections, corners and internal
components.
The ATM-L and ATM-R Modules are intended for mounting inside a UL-864/ULC S527 Listed enclosure with no
other electronics. Use the mounting hardware (hex spacers and screws) provided with the module. Any switches
installed with the ATM-L that are used for silencing must be either a key lock type with the key removable only in the
Normal position, or located inside a locked panel, or arranged to provide equivalent protection against unauthorized
use. Wire routing and installation methods are to be in accordance with the annunciator installation instructions.
Note: Maintain a minimum 1/2" clearance around the ATM-L and ATM-R modules when installed in the UL-864/
ULC S527 Listed enclosure. Select an enclosure with dimensions of at least 6" H x 9" W x 2" D.
Use consecutive LED outputs, starting from LED Output No. 1. There can be no gaps in the output-LED sequence.
Cut the next-higher supervised-output termination jumper after the last LED output that is being used. Refer to
Figure 2 for details.
The LEDs and functional switches for the ATM-L must be installed in conduit within 20 feet of the UL-864/ULC S527
Listed enclosure.
The relays for the ATM-R must be installed in conduit within 20 feet of the UL-864/ULC S527 Listed enclosure.
Use consecutive relay outputs, starting from Relay Output No. 1. There can be no gaps in the output-relay sequence.
Cut the next-higher supervised-output termination jumper after the last relay output that is being used. Refer to
Figure 3 for details.
See Figure 1 for module mounting dimensions.

Example:
• ATM-L # 1 has 20 point- or group-specific output LEDs.
• ATM-L #2 has 15 point- or group-specific output LEDs.
• ATM-L #3 has 8 point- or group-specific output LEDs.
• All ATM-Ls are utilizing the system status lights.
• All outputs will be powered by a Kidde intelligent control unit power supply.
• Total LEDs = 43
• Total output LED current = 43 x 0.012 = 0.516 A
• Total ATM-Ls = 3
• Total ATM-L current = 3 x 0.045 = 0.135 A
• Total ATM-Ls status lights
• Total Status LED current = 3 x 0.072 = 0.216 A
• Total Current = 0.867 A
• Maximum Power-Line Resistance = 4.4 V/0.867 A = 5.1 ohms
4-1 REGISTRATION
The ATM-L and ATM-R Modules are automatically registered into the intelligent system when they are uploaded into
the system configuration software. They may also be registered manually, but without point or group-specific device
mapping, by means of the keypad on the control unit. The manual registration procedure is documented in the
appropriate control unit design, installation and maintenance manual.
