Dear Ms. Figueroa,

Writing has been a struggle for me. Coming into my senior year writing has always been

a struggle for me, for example starting off essays with an introduction has always been

challenging however over the years I realize you need to start with a attention grabber that can

interest the reader. I also has struggle with citing my quotes. In addition I use to type my citing

inside my body paragraphs and put it into parenthesis. I have also struggle with staying on topic

with my topic sentence, I tend to get side track and like to add a lot of extra stuff that don’t need

to be added. In addition I also like to use because, you and I a lot even on 1st person typing.

However, over the years in high school I have learned how to overcome my weakness in

writing. For example I have to make sure I know what I’m going to be writing about. I also have

to understand what the prompt is asking. Not to mention I have to make sure I know the prompt

is asking me to talk in 1st, 2nd, and or 3rd. Next, what I have learned is to make sure I re read my

entire essay to make sure its good and even after that make sure I ask a friend to read it to just to

make they catch anything you have miss.

My strongest accomplishment was my freshman year I had to type an essay about Romeo

and Juliet when I was typing this essay and I had one more day to type it and I haven’t even

started it. In spite of the amount of time I had left I ended up tying a 2 page essay in one day and

got a 90. I was so proud of myself because I never type an essay so fast and did so good because

if this I knew I had to power to type good essay if I put all my focus into it. As a matter a fact I

ended up asking a teacher if she can peer edit it to make sure its good. While my teacher was

peer editing my essay she mention that she like how I went in depth with Romeo and Juliet
death. As a result, it gave me some confidence in how I was able to do really good in my body

paragraphs.

After, reading and reflecting on my old essay I have realized a lot of things. I have

realized that I have come a long way in typing essay for example I’m able to create a topic

sentence and stay focus on that topic sentence. I have also realized how to make a good counter-

argument, I think this will be hopeful in the future because I want to be a marriage therapist and

in order to do that I’m going to have to take creative writing in college. My writing goals outside

of high school is to write and or talk to someone and change their life for the better.
