“PERANG GERILYA JENDRAL SUDIRMAN”

 Portray the Atmosphere War of Independence

Look at a glance, the viewer can see the similarities of the two paintings. Both paintings
illustrate the situation of the war of independence, only different from the place that describes
the atmosphere. First painting the tense atmosphere be depicted by the painter is seen from the
background of the scene while visible from the second painting of the relaxed atmosphere but
keep watchful of the enemy but they are illustrated equally to prepare for war. This painting is
created due to the creative hands of two famous painters in Indonesia. The first painting by
M.Sochieb with the title "Gagah Berani" this painting is quoted from the source "The events of
10 November 1945 in the painting” published in 1965 and the second painting by Sudjojono
with the title of "Perang Gerilya Jenderal Sudirman" published in. Both paintings describe the
same thing, but the atmosphere is different.

In the M.Sochieb paintings, you can see there are not many colors the painter gives to
his creation. He combines dominant colors such as white and brown so that the impression
looks dramatic and thrilling in the viewer to see the painting so that the viewer can get carried
away by situation in the war era. Every corner of the painting is clearly illustrated without any
blur effect to focus on each object. Besides to the background of the place, the tense atmosphere
is visible from the painting, the painter illustrate it in the form of some people and one of the
soldier of war lurking or watching the upward with eyes that look so observant to see the
enemy, and some people also prepare to bring weapons to prepare themselves if something
happens or if the war will begin. Appeared someone bring Indonesian flag is very enthusiastic
depicted with wrinkles on the forehead with fly the flag. The point of view of the painter
emphasized the eyes of the warriors and the clothes worn at the time. The t-shirt looks very
shabby, dirty, torn, just wearing a t-shirt, attached sarong around the neck so impressed that the
atmosphere in a state of war without considering the state of his body.

The atmosphere of war in Sudjojono painting, he combines some bright colors to make
it look less tense though both war. Background of the war scene on the hill area surrounding
the mountain so viewer describe it as not being in an emergency. The center of attention in this
painting is fixed on Jendral Sudirman’s face. Painter illustrate his expression are different from
people who it is there, he was like thinking of a strategy to attack the enemy with the addition
of his eyes that facing down. A vigilant atmosphere is illustrated when some soldiers stand by
bring firearms that keep watch the enemy and there is one of soldiers that brings a telescope to
stalk the enemy from a long distance. Readiness in the war is depicted with weapons using
guns and their clothings still look tidy and use complete attributes.

In the painting "Gagah Berani" choice of white and brown color dominates in the
painting and given the effect of white fog so that the painting looks dramatic. The warriors are
depicted with an enthusiastic and serious face while stalking the enemy. The atmosphere is
illustrated in an emergency on the battlefield. While on the painting "Perang Gerilya Jendral
Sudirman" a choice of bright colors that describe a relaxed atmosphere but still serious in
enemy surveillance in mountain areas. Visible face of the warriors while stalking the enemy
from a distance they look relaxed and serious so that the atmosphere illustrated in a state of
standby. Even though both have a different atmosphere but the similarities seen when the
viewer saw at a glance of the painting of the war of independence and the war warriors who
both describe the situation at that time.

In the two paintings are clearly depicting the war of independence but only different in
the selection of places and describes the atmosphere. When viewer see his paintings the painters
managed to make the viewer to imagine the atmosphere that occurred in a state of war of
independence through his creation.
Sekilas pembaca sudah bisa membaca kesamaan dari dua lukisan tersebut. Kedua lukisan
tersebut menggambarkan keadaan pada masa perang kemerdekaan, hanya saja yang berbeda
dari tempat yang menggambarkan suasananya. Tampak jelas dari gambar peratama suasana
menegangkan yang digambarkan oleh pelukis dilihat dari latar tempat kejadian sedangkan
tampak dari gambar kedua suasana santai tapi tetap waspada mengintai musuh tetapi mereka
digambarkan sama-sama akan bersiap berperang. Ada dua pelukis yang ternama di Indonesia
yaitu sochieb dengan judul Gagah Berani dan Sudjojono dengan judul perang gerilya Jendral
Sudirman. Dari kedua lukisan mendeskripsikan hal yang sama, tetapi suasana pembawaanya
berbeda.

Dari gambar pertama terlihat tidak banyak warna yang diberikan oleh si pelukis. dia
memadukan warna yang dominan putih dan coklat dengan kesan tampak drmatis dalam si
penonton melihat lukisan tersebut agar penonton bisa terbawa suasana pada jaman perang
tersebut. Setiap sudut lukisan Digambarkan dengan jelas tanpa ada efek blur untuk
memberikan focus pada salah satu objek. Suasana menegangkan tampak terlihat dari gambar
tersebut si pelukis mengilustrasikannya berupa beberapa orang dan salah satu prajurit perang
mengintai atau memperhatikan kearah atas dengan mata yang terlihat begitu jeli
memandangnya, serta beberapa orang juga persiapan membawa senjata untuk persiapan diri
jika terjadi sesuatu atau jika perang akan dimulai. Tampak sesorang yang membawa bendera
merah putih sangat antusias dan semangat digambarkan dengan dahi dikerutkan dengan
mengimbarkan bendera. Sudut pandang pelukis menekankan pandangan mata para pejuang
perang dan pakaian yang dipakai pada saat itu. pakaian yang dipakai terlihat sangat lusuh,
kotor, sobek, memakai kaos, berkalungkan sarung sehingga terkesan memang suasana dalam
keadaan berperang tanpa memperdulikan keadaan raganya.

Suasana perang di lukisan Sudjojono, ia memadukan beberapa warna yang cerah agar terlihat
suasananya tidak begitu menegangkan meskipun sama-sama perang. Latar tempat kejadian
perang pada daerah bukit yang sekelilingnya terdapat gunung sehingga penonton
menggambarkannya tidak sedang dalam keadaan yang darurat. tampak sekilas menjadi
tegang apabila penonton memperhatikan wajah jenderal Sudirman yang digambarkan oleh si
pelukis. raut wajahnya seperti memikirkan suatu strategi untuk menyerang musuh dengan
tambahan tatapan matanya yang menghadap ke arah bawahsuasana waspada tergambarkan
ketika beberapa prajurit yang membawa senjata api yang siap siaga mengawasi musuh serta
ada salah satu prajurityang membawa keker untuk mengintai musuh dari jarak jauh. Kesiapan
dalam melakukan perang digambarkan dengan senjata yang menggunakan senapan serta
pakaian yang digunakan masih terlihat rapi dan menggunakan atribut lengkap.

Di lukisan “Gagah berani” pilihan warna putih dan coklat mendominasi dalam lukisan
tersebut serta diberikan efek kabut putih sehingga tampak lukisan tersebut dramatis. Para
pejuang perang digambarkan dengan muka yang antusias serta serius saat mengintai musuh.
Suasananya diilustrasikan dalam keadaan yang darurat di medan perang. Sedangkan pada
lukisan “perang gerilya jenderal Sudirman” pilihan warna yang cerah sehingga
menggambarkan suasana yang santai tapi tetap serius dalam pengintaian musuh di daerah
gunung. Terlihat wajah para pejuang saat mengintai musuh dari jarak jauh mereka terlihat
santai dan serius sehingga suasana yang diilustrasikan dalam keadaan siap siaga. Dari kedua
lukisan diatas kesamaan sudah terlihat yaitu lukisan tersebut menggambarkan kejadian saat
perang kemerdekaan serta adanya prajurit perang yang sama-sama menggambarkan keadaan
pada saat itu. dari kedua lukisan tersebut sudah jelas menggambarkan perang kemerdekaan
namun hanya saja yang berbeda dalam pemilihan tempat serta menggambarkan suasana.saat
melihat lukisannya pelukis berhasil membuat penonton membayangkan suasana yang terjadi
dalam keadaan perang kemerdekaan melalui karyanya tersebut.
