- Directional drilling is drilling method that not just drill the sea wall in straight line but has
direction adjustment to allow the well to drill into specific location.
- Most directional-well planniong use 3D visualization in modern computer

2. How’s the process of Chemical Injection on Oil Well Productivity (4 marks)

gas pressure
timer unit
preparation regulator

/ pipeline pump

-the moving gas get into the injection through a gas preparation unit.
-then, the gas steams through a 2 stage pressure regulator to provides the required pressure to
the system for operation.
-the timer unit is used to give technological requirement of the schedule such as number of
strokes that needed to operate the pump.
-after that the chemical is injected to the injection pump.
3. Explain about Horizontal Drilling? (3 marks)

Horizontal drilling is drilled across on oil and gas formation, increasing production by as
much as 20 times more than that of its vertical counterpart

4. Explain about 3(Three) types of Subsea Manifold. (3marks)

Template manifold
-required when subsea Christmas tree placed side by side.
-to formed a group of subsea Christmas tree

Cluster manifold
-required when subsea Christmas tree are placed around and close but not side by side.
-it is different from template manifold
-support 4 until 8 wells per manifold

Pipeline End Manifold

-like cluster manifold but only support 1 or 2 subsea Christmas tree
-PLEM usually connect to subsea flow line without needed PLET.

5. What is the function of Skimmer, gunbarrel tank, & corrugated plate interceptor? (3 marks)

- Skimmer is a separator used for water treatment

- Gunbarrel tank is a separator used for oil treatment
- Corrugated plate interceptor is plate in the skimmer used for primary and secondary water
treatment in the skimmer.

6. List 3(THREE) the potential operating problems in the separator. (3 marks)

-Paraffin problem
-Sand problem
-Foamy crudes problem

7. List the function of Subsea Manifold. (5 marks)

-used as flow-routing subsea hardware that connect between subsea trees and flowlines.
-used to optimize the subsea layout arrangement
-reduce the quantity of risers connected to the platform
-used to average pigging and have ability of routing production from a particular tree to a
particular flowline
-one manifold tied to four subsea tree and the flow is routed to the processing facilities.

8. Explain about BOP(Blowout Preventer) (3 marks)

- BOP is a valve or similar mechanical device used to seal, control and monitor oil and gas
wells to prevent blowout, the uncontrolled release of crude oil and/or natural gas from a well.
- Usually installed redundantly in stacks.
