THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF A LAWYER

What does it take to be a lawyer? Can the practice of Law really change who we are? The
video shows us the different kinds of a lawyer. Which in the end made us wonder, what type of
lawyer do we want to be in the future? I think the three types of lawyer are not that bad. But
If I am going to be asked, my answer would be the middle ground.

The middle ground lawyer. This is what I think I will be and what I think I might be. For me,
the middle ground lawyer knows what he should do and what the Law requires him to do. So it
would be like knowing his duty to his client but also taking note of his duty to the court. It might
seem off in a way but it is helpful to the client and it is not against the Law. The middle ground
lawyer knows his boundaries and strategy. He will come to a point that he will balance his duty
to the client and as well as his duty to the court. It is not the same way as the other two where
sometime one duty has to be sacrificed in order to prioritize the other one. Like for the first kind
of Lawyer, the duty to the court is somehow sacrificed in order to save his client or win his case.
Such lawyer will do all means even if it means he will break the law. As for the third kind of a
Lawyer, it will sacrifice his duty to the client just because of his loyalty to the court. And in this
case, he won’t be able to perform his duties to the client completely. So I think, the middle
ground lawyer could fully perform his duty to his client without the need to abandon his duty
to the court. This kind of Lawyer knows that although he knows the unfairness of this cruel
world and the injustice that is very much alive, he still won’t let go of his principles — his very
own foundation where he built inside him while being tested by life. And I think this is what we
should all become and what we all should do.

As what we have discussed before, we should not let the bad experiences of life define us.
We have always known who we really are, from being an ordinary student, to being a law
student then being a lawyer, we already have principles, beliefs and faith. And we should bring
these things along us to know that no matter what life may throw at us, we still have these
principles that would never provoke us to forget about the duties of a good Lawyer.
