Very good!

The words that you have form is our topic for today, the MEASURES OF CENTRAL
TENDENCY.

2
Today, our agenda are:
B. Establishing a a. to define measures of central tendency: mean, median, and mode;
purpose for the b. calculate for mean, median, and mode for ungrouped data; and
lesson c. appreciate the importance of measures of central tendency by applying the
concept in real life.
Let us start our lesson with an activity on Finding the Mean, Median and Mode.
Each of your group will be given an activity sheet. You will be given 15 minutes to
finish the task assigned to you. Post your work as soon as you are finished. Your
output will be rated by the following rubrics:

Group 1
TITLE: Mean, Mode, and Median of Group 1’s Ages

MATERIALS:
1. Manila Paper
2. Pentel pen
3. Calculator

PROCEDURE
1. Understand the task given;
2. Answer what is being asked in the activity;
3. Write it on your manila paper and;
4. Discuss your work in front of the class.

Task:
1. Get the age of your group mate.
2. Find the mean, median and mode.
Hint:
To find the mean: Add all the ages of your group members and divide it by the number
of members.
To find the median: Arrange the ages in ascending order and find the middle score. If

Group 2
TITLE: Mean, Mode, and Median of Group 2’s Heights

MATERIALS:
1. Manila Paper
2. Pentel pen
3. Calculator
4. Tape Measure

PROCEDURE
1. Understand the task given;
2. Answer what is being asked in the activity;
3. Write it on your manila paper and;
4. Discuss your work in front of the class.

Task:
1. Get the height of your group mate in centimeter.
2. Find the mean, median and mode.
Hint:
To find the mean: Add all the heights of your group members and divide it by the
number of members.
To find the median: Arrange the heights in ascending order and find the middle score.
If there are two middle scores, add the two and divide it by two.
To find the mode: Get the height or heights with most number.

Group 3

TITLE: Mean, Mode, and Median of Group 3’s Weights

MATERIALS:
1. Manila Paper
2. Pentel pen
3. Calculator
4. Weighing Scale

PROCEDURE
1. Understand the task given;
2. Answer what is being asked in the activity;
3. Write it on your manila paper and;
4. Discuss your work in front of the class.

Task:
1. Get the weight of your group mate in kilogram.
2. Find the mean, median and mode.
Hint:
To find the mean: Add all the weights of your group members and divide it by the
number of members.
To find the median: Arrange the weights in ascending order and find the middle score.
If there are two middle scores, add the two and divide it by two.
To find the mode: Get the weight or weights with most number.
Group 4

TITLE: Mean, Mode, and Median of Group 4’s Favorite Number

MATERIALS:
1. Manila Paper
2. Pentel pen
3. Calculator

PROCEDURE
1. Understand the task given;
2. Answer what is being asked in the activity;
3. Write it on your manila Paper and;
4. Discuss your work in front of the class.

Task:
1. Ask and get the favorite number of your group mate.
2. Find the mean, median and mode.

Hint:
1. To find the mean: Add all the weights of your group members and divide it by
the number of members.
2. To find the median: Arrange the weights in ascending order and find the
middle score. If there are two middle scores, add the two and divide it by two.
3. To find the mode: Get the weight or weights with most number.

(Let the students define the mean, median, and mode. And discuss how to find the
mean, median, and mode from a given data).
The teacher will give/discuss additional information about the concepts.
The teacher will check whether the student achieved the objective/agenda by
providing another activity: Show me your answer! (The teacher will post question,
the student will write their answer on their whiteboards, and show their answer by
raising their improvised white boards.
The group with highest score will be given a reward.
F. Developing Mastery 1. Find the mean of the following scores: 67, 89, 93, 77, 84. Answer: 82
2. Find the median of the following scores: 32, 43, 31, 52, 28, 39. Answer: 35.5

in daily living
The teacher will ask a student to summarize the lesson.
Measures of Central Tendency-
Mean- (commonly called the average) of a set of n number is the sum of all numbers
H. Making divided by n.
Generalization and Median-is the middle number when the number is arranged in descending order.
Abstraction about When there are even numbers of elements, the median is the mean of the two
the lesson middle numbers.
Mode- is the number that occurs most often in a set of data (unimodal). A set of data
can have more than one mode (bimodal,trimodal). If all the numbers appear the
same number of times, there is no mode for the data set.
Answer the following questions:
1. What is the difference between mean, median, and mode? ( 3points)
2. Which is the median of the following scores: 34,11,49,54,64,59,47?
a. 49 b. 54 c.47 d. 34
3. Find the mean of the following ages in the culinary arts:
24,18,19,20,24,26,27,20,23,19?
I. Evaluating Learning a. 24 b. 23 c. 22 d. 21
4. Which is the mode of the following distribution: 2,2,3,4,7,7,7,10,11,12,12?
a. 4 b. 5 c. 7 d. 8
5. Which of the following measures of central tendency is best to used when you
want to know your average final rating?
a. mean b. median c. mode

Agreement:
Explain your answer in each problem in a form of writing:
1. Rowena’s score on the first four examinations were 73, 77, 72, and 75. What score
J. Additional activities must she receive on the last examination in order to have a mean of 75?
for application or 2. Edna’s Math test scores were 79, 51, 83, 76, 99, 75, 73, 84, and 77. What is Edna’s
remediation average test scores? If her teacher drops the lowest score, What will Edna’s average
be?
3. Consider the set of numbers 11, 13, 17, 14, and 15. Rowena claimed that the
median is 17. How did she make an error?
