Assignment 2

1. The cold war is a term for a period of conflict, tension, and competition between the leaders
of the United States and England against the leadership of the Soviet Union that occurred
between 1947-1991. Competition both occur in various fields, such as military coalitions;
ideology; industry, and technology development; defense; nuclear and weapons race; and
others. Named the Cold War because the two countries had never been involved in direct
military warfare. But both of them each have weapons of mass destruction which can cause
significant damage, namely nuclear weapons.

2. The proxy war is the indirect involvement in conflict through the use of third parties in the
hope of influencing strategic results. It is directly related to distinguishing the
characteristics of proxy warfare from direct intervention or covert operations. In proxy war,
parties directly involved cannot be directly affected because they do not necessarily show
signs of participating in the conflict. Disguised operations do need to be dealt with in
disclosure, but this operation can still show direct representation from the parties without
needing to elaborate on anyone who needs anything behind a conflict.

3. The arms race is a competition in which two or more countries each fight against other
countries to produce the most massive arsenal. There are four main elements in this
resolution. First, there are desires and needs of all parties. If one will do this, another may
also be done. Second, this is an accelerated process that focuses on a country. Many
resources are needed for an arms race.

B. Largely because of the Cold War, the communist countries buift up their
military power but neglected their civilian economies.

and conservatives. During the Cold War, and particularly during the Vietnam

influence all around the world and people all around the world expect the US to
help solve their problems
