Growing Under Vicat Group
At present, Bharathi Cement, a part of Vicat Group, operates a 5 million tonnes
per annum (MTPA) capacity cement plant in Andhra Pradesh. In addition, Kalburgi
Cement (formerly Vicat Sagar), a wholly owned subsidiary of Vicat Group, also has
a 2.75 MTPA cement plant in Karnataka.
Jointly Vicat Group today has a cement capacity of 7.75 MTPA and in future, this
capacity will be increased to over 10 MTPA in India. This makes the Vicat Group
one of the leading players in Indian cement industry.

Markus Oberle, Chief Executive Officer

Markus Oberle joined the board of Bharathi Cement
Corporation Private Limited (BCCPL) as CEO on
February 8, 2014. He holds position of Chief Executive
Officer for Indian operations of Vicat Group. He re-
joined Vicat in India business after his first tenure closing
in December 2012. Earlier in 2010, he was appointed
as Country Head for Vicat subsidiaries in India and
also as Managing Director for BCCPL. He has a clear
vision of expanding Vicat’s operations and establishing
the Group’s entities as benchmark companies in Indian
cement Industry.
Prior to joining Vicat Group in 2004, Markus had served
Holcim Group for 16 years from 1987 to 2003, in different
capacities. Markus has global leadership exposure and
have worked as country head in Germany, Belgium,
France, Netherlands and CIS-countries (Moscow). In
2004, he was appointed as CEO for Vigier Switzerland,
a subsidiary of Vicat Group having activities in field of
wide experience in key managerial and administrative
cement, ready-mixed concrete, aggregates, precast and
functions in industries like construction materials, food
waste management. He served Vigier twice, first from
and consulting. He started his career in 1978 with Arthur

Stake in Bharathi Cement
In April 2010, Vicat Group acquired
51 per cent stake in Hyderabad
based Bharathi Cement Corporation
Private Limited and became a major
shareholder in the company. The
Bharathi Cement was promoted by the
Hyderabad based entrepreneurs for
setting up a 5 MTPA capacity cement
plant in Andhra Pradesh.
Bharathi Cement has implemented
its cement project in two phases. The
company commenced the construction
of its first phase production line of 2.25
MTPA in 2006, and commissioned
the same on September 28, 2009 at
a cost of Rs 700 crores. Soon after
completing the first phase, the company
commenced the ground work for line
two with the remaining capacity of
2.75 MTPA, which was completed
on February 4, 2011. With this, the
company’s 5 MTPA cement project
was fully commissioned. Bharathi
Cement also has a captive power plant
of 30 MW and an immediate access to
