This website focuses on people first language and the rights that every human
deserves. This website helps people understand the importance of why we use people
first language and how to make ensure you are not offending or taking away anyone’s
rights.

Everyone would benefit from this website because it is educating how to speak about
people who have learning disabilities.

List 3 interesting things you learned:

1. That not being able to define oneself is considered identity theft.

2. That there are communities out there that are there to help adults with disabilities
and to provide them with services that will help them continue to grow.

3. not using people first language is degrading to the other person.

I would recommend this website because it is very informative and helps the reader
understand the importance of people first language.

1. There are parent centers all across the United States for parents

3. There are different resources and webinars for parents to help learn and understand
about their child’s disability better.

I would recommend this site to parents because it has a lot of valuable information that
they could benefit from. It also helps them realize how big of a community is out there
for them to connect with.

1. A Down syndrome reality show went to the Emmys

2. Facebook is accused of disability-related discrimination

3. Disney has a law suit against them for making a child with autism wait longer for an
attraction.

Would you recommend this site? Why or why not?

Yes, I would recommend this site because I felt that I learned a lot about what is
happening in the world that is not on the news or talked about in my daily life. I think
that this is information the world needs to because more aware of.

others. This website provides the newest news, videos, and events that are occurring in

gives resources, shares events and current news.

1. That anyone can advocate.

2. That there are so many different learning abilities and that you can find almost all on
this site and what the disability means.

3. There are annual conferences that help educate teachers, administrators, and
parents about different disability’s and how to advocate and help children.

This website has information to help families of children who have IEPS. There is
information on what to expect at IEP meetings, different laws that have been put into
place, and information about All Kids together a with ways to support the cause.

Family members would benefit from this information.

1. I.D.E.A. supports children with disabilities from ages 3 to 21


2. inclusion programs are not just for in the classroom but for everyday life
3. families are still fighting to have the children have the same rights as students that
do not have IEPs

Would you recommend this site? Why or why not?

I would recommend this site because it provides information for parents about how to
prepare for IEP meetings, the rights their child has, and a glossary of terms that they
might not be familiar with.

I would recommend this website to early childhood staff, family members, and
administrators because I felts there were a lot of good resources and information on
this site.

1.having routine and order helps lessen anxiety but holidays can be hard because it is a
change.

2. Having autism you may have different sensory experiences such as hearing loud as
soft and soft as loud.

3. Having special interests helps them learn.

Yes, I found a lot of useful information while looking on this website that helped me
learn.

1. people with autism are naturally interested in technology

2. helping develop fine motor skills can be done with using technology

3. flashcards with pictures of their schedule will help lower anxiety

I would recommend this site to teachers because there are tools on different ideas and
activities to incorporate into the classroom. There’s also training and Facebook support
groups for both parents and teachers.

1. It is more effective to use prevention instead of punishment when it comes to


dealing with students who have behavior issues

2. Kids learn about behaviors the same way they learn about other school subjects

3. Its important to realize no kid wants to be bad.

I would recommend this site because there are many different resources that can help
families and educators learn how to deal with different behaviors.

1. not all behavioral triggers can be avoided but they can be less intense for the
student.

2. having a consistent schedule will help a child with behavioral issues.

I would recommend this site because it helps people learn what someone who has
behavioral issues needs for support and what can trigger the issues.
