II Semester
Overview
The course provides the basic concepts for a correct use of measurement instrumentation adopted in testing,
diagnosticsand metrological characterization of components, devices and telecommunication systems.
Instrumentation and measurement methods mainly adopted in the field of TLC applications will be presented, analysed
and used.
The course also includes several laboratory sessions.
Learning Outcomes;
- Detailed knowledge of the metrology science and related issues (errors, uncertainty, uncertainty evaluation,
metrological performance of instrumentation)
- Detailed knowledge of anolog to digital conversion systems, related non-ideal effects, and of the main A7D
architectures
- Detailed knowledge and use of acquisition systems, digital storage oscilloscopes and related performance and
functionalities.
- Detailed knowledge and use of frequency-domain systems and instrumentations, spectral analysis and spectrum
analysers.
- Knowledge and use of systems and techniques for measurements of networks and transmission lines, both in time
domain and frequency domain.
- Practical use of main TLC-instrumentations (DSO, spectrum analysers, VNA, TDR, Automatic test equipments and
data acquisition)
