Training and development

Human Resource Management is the process of recruiting, selecting, inducting employees,


providing orientation, imparting training and development, appraising the performance of
employees, deciding compensation and providing benefits, motivating employees, maintaining
proper relations with employees and their trade unions, ensuring employees safety, welfare and
healthy measures in compliance with labour laws of the land.

Human Resource Management involves management functions like planning, organizing,


directing and controlling

 It involves procurement, development, maintenance of human resource


 It helps to achieve individual, organizational and social objectives
 Human Resource Management is a multidisciplinary subject. It includes the study of
management, psychology, communication, economics and sociology.
 it involves team spirit and team work.
 It is a continuous process.

In addition ,Training and Development is a subsystem of an organization which


emphasize on the improvement of the performance of individuals and groups. Training is an
educational process which involves the sharpening of skills, concepts, changing of attitude and
gaining more knowledge to enhance the performance of the employees. Good & efficient training
of employees helps in their skills & knowledge development, which eventually helps a company
improve.
Training is about knowing where you are in the present and after some time where will
you reach with your abilities. By training, people can learn new information, new methodology
and refresh their existing knowledge and skills. Due to this there is much improvement and adds
up the effectiveness at work. The motive behind giving the training is to create an impact that lasts
beyond the end time of the training itself and employee gets updated with the new phenomenon.
Training can be offered as skill development for individuals and groups.
Training is distinct from development. Training is a learning process in which employees
get an opportunity to develop skill, competency and knowledge as per the job requirement.
Development is an educational process which is concerned with the overall growth of the
employees. Training is meant for operatives. Development is meant for executives. Training is
reactive process. Development is pro- active process. The main aim of training is to develop
additional skills. The main aim to develop the total personality. Training is short team process
utilizing systematic and organized procedure by which non managerial personnel learn technical
knowledge and skills for definite purpose. Development is long term educational process utilizing
systematic and organized procedure by which managerial personnel learn conceptual and
theoretical knowledge for general purpose. Training focus on Present. development focus on
Future. Training Orientation is Job oriented. Development orientation is career oriented. The
objective of training is to meet the present need of an employee. The objective of development to
meet the future need of an employee number of individuals Training is initiative is taken by the
management. Development is initiative is taken by an individual.
