Ethernet communication between EXTER and a Beckhoff-Controller (z.B CX1000) with

WIN CE operating system

Controller settings:
To establish a communication between a beckhoff plc and a EXTER there are some settings
necessary in the terminal, but also in the plc.
To configure the CX-controller you need a “remote tool” called Cerhost. Start Cerhost and use
the name or the ip-adress of the controller to connect to the system.

Now you have to register all participants the controller should communicate to in the AMS remote
connections. You find this under My device—Hard Disk—System—TC AmsRemoteMgr.

Important!!:

The connection named LoopBack doesn’t have to be changed.

Add a remote connection

Click the Add button and configure a new remote connection.

The necessary connection properties for a ethernet communication are:

Connection name
AMS Net ID
IP address
Transport

The AMS Net ID of the local computer is the IP address of the controller followed by 1.1

To store these settings in the controller Start—Suspend has to be activated.

Now the configuration in the controller is finished and the project could be transferred.

Settings Terminal:

Configure a project with the beckhoff ADS driver

Under setup/peripherals the controller has to be moved to the ethernet connection.

In the controller properties the following settings has to be made:
AMS Net ID for the terminal
IP adress of the controller
AMS Net ID for the controller
Communication port ( 801 for embedded systems)

The IP address of the terminal is configured under TCP/IP connection 1

The terminals Net ID is the IP adress followed by 1.1 (e.g. 192.168.1.1.1.1)

Now all necessary settings to establish a communication are made.
