The Myrrhbearing Women, very early in
the morning, took their spices and
went to the Tomb of our Lord. When
they found it not as they had
expected, they reverently pondered
the removal of the stone, and they
said to one another: Where art the
seals that secured the Tomb? Where
is Pilate’s guad and special security?”
A shining Angel appeared as a
Messenger to the Women who were
unaware, and said to them: Why do
you mournfully seek the One Who is
alive and Who gave Life to mankind?
Christ our God is Risen from the
dead, as the Almighty, and He grants
us all Incorruption and Life,
Illumination and Great Mercy.
Praise the Lord, all Gentiles! Praise
Him, all you people!
do you mix the Myrrh with Your
tears, O Disciples? The stone has
been rolled away; the Sepulchre is
empty – behold how corruption has
been trampled underfoot by Life!
Behold how stupefied in terror are
the guards of the disobedient!
