Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, students from mechanical
engineering discipline will:
• become familiar with essentials of electronic
technology
• understand the operation of basic electronic circuits in
the field of controls and instrumentation
• understand the role and analysing the behaviour of
various types of electronic
• learn the tools and techniques, and laboratory
equipment, for analysing the operation of electronic
circuits

Grading
• Assignments: 10%
• Lab Work: 15%
• Midterm #1: 15%
• Midterm #1: 15%
• Final: 45%

Assignments
• 5 to 7 assignments to cover each topic
• Submitted in class within 15 minutes from the start
of the class
• Must achieve a 50% passing grade

Laboratory
• Lab classes will start in the week of Jan. 16
• Lab groups are limited to a maximum of three (3) students.
• Each group must submit one lab report on the following lab period.
• Must achieve a 50% passing grade
• Transfers between lab sections are not allowed.
• All lab sessions are mandatory.
• The experiments are:
• Familiarization with Laboratory Equipment
• Diodes and Power Supply
• BJT Transistors
• Operational Amplifiers and their Applications
• Design of Modulo-4 Up/Down Synchronous Counter

Examinations
• Midterms and final exam are closed book
• You are allowed to prepare one 8.5”×11” sheet of
paper with notes on one side only.
• Have your calculators approved with an ENCS
stamp
• You must have a 50% passing grade on the
combined two Midterms plus Final Examination.
