 Springdale EarlyON Centre offers various programs and services to parents,

caregivers and children that builds on their strength/assets by providing them an

opportunity and support to learn, grow and connect together. At the centre, parents

and caregivers make connections and build relationships that are important and

helpful for realizing a child’s full potential (MNS, 2019). For example, all the

families along with their children at the centre interact with each other, sing songs

and rhymes together and engage in various activities together which provides the

parents and caregivers an opportunity to collaborate with the community and to get to

know their neighbourhood. The program facilitator plans various activities, and sing

songs and rhymes for children’s learning and development. In this way, the centre

helps them to build on their strengths/assets. Even the programs at the centre help

children to increase their knowledge about the world and to further develop their

skills.

 The centre demonstrates the examples of building community capacity in different

ways. All the programs and services at the centre are family-centred. For example,

programs and services are based on the needs of the families. There are different

programs to satisfy the needs and requirements of diverse families. For example, the

programs and services that are provided by the centre empower the families to solve

their problems (Australian Institute of Family Studies, 2019). The centre also follows

the strength and need-based approach. For example, the program facilitator interacts
with the families and suggest them programs and services and also provide them

resources based on their needs. Moreover, as it is a non-profit organization, even the

low-income families and new immigrants can access the programs and resources of

the centre easily to increase their knowledge and skills as well.

 The centre also demonstrates examples of inclusive practice. For example, the centre

works together with different stakeholders and partners to achieve the common goal

of connecting the families and to support children’s learning and development. In this

way, the centre follows a collaborative approach as well. Moreover, all the families

with children from birth to six years old can access the programs and services

available at the centre without any discrimination based on race, culture, status,

language, gender etc. (Australian Institute of Family Studies, 2019).

 The centre also demonstrates the principle of investment in community capacity. For

example, there is a lot of child-sized furniture, age appropriate toys and books for

children, and a lot of resources for parents/caregivers in the form of parenting books,

newsletters, posters, information charts and a spacious room to connect with other

families and to become more resourceful as a parent/caregiver. The centre has a

survey for the families to fill so that it can continue providing the best programs and

services to them and to their children. (Australian Institute of Family Studies, 2019).
