Special Notes
➢ M1 = make one stitch: Lift the right “leg” of the next stitch (the right side of the stitch
directly below the next stitch on your left needle), place it on the left needle, then knit it
as you would any other stitch.
➢ A white tip can be added to the end of your cat’s tail and/or paws. This isn’t written in
the pattern, and can be customized as you desire.
1
Body and Tail
Work begins at vertical line between chest and body. With color A, CO 18 sts onto 3 dpns.
Before joining in the round, slip the first st on your left dpn onto the third (last) dpn. Then slip
the second to last stitch (formerly the last stitch) over the slipped stitch and off the needle. This
will create a smooth, even-looking first round of stitches and prevent a common problem – a
loose first-stitch. Work the rounds below:
Work a 4-st icord for 3 inches. Cut yarn and thread through live sts. Pull closed and weave in
loose end. Stuff and shape the body, keeping in mind that the increases/decreases are at the
top of your cat, and the bottom should be flattened (1). The tail can be curled around the side of
the body and stitched in place, if desired.

2
Chest
Sts are now picked up in some of the original CO sts to shape the chest. Join color B to work
the rows below.
Beginning at the first CO st (center/back of your cat’s neck), count 9 sts downward. This will be
the st directly opposite of your first CO st, and the center st at bottom of chest (2). Starting with
this st, work the rows below back and forth, turning your work at the end of each one. A new st
is picked up in the original CO sts at the end of each row – purled when on the wrong side of
your work and knitted when on the right side. Add a second dpn when needed due to the curve:
1) PUK2 (2 sts)
2) P2, PUP1 (3 sts)
3) K3, PUK1 (4 sts)
4) P4, PUP1 (5 sts)
5) K5, PUK1 (6 sts)
6) P6, PUP1 (7 sts)
7) K7, PUK1 (8 sts)
8) P8, PUP1 (9 sts)
9) K9, PUK1 (10 sts)
10) P10, PUP1 (11 sts)
11) K6

Head and Ears
There are now 11 color B sts on 2 dpns (3). Rejoin color A and PUK 6 sts in the remaining CO
sts at the back of your cat’s head – 3 on each side of the increases. The first color B stitch at
the end of these 6 new sts will be the beginning/end of the following rounds (4).
Cut yarn leaving a tail of about 10-12 inches – you will use this for the remainder of your work.
Thread loose end through the 3 live sts you just worked and pull closed; this is the first ear.
Continue with the following steps and using the same working yarn:
3. Place the first 2 sts from the scrap yarn onto a dpn. Place the last 2 sts from the scrap yarn
onto a second dpn. Hold the two dpns side by side and use the Kitchener stitch to join them.
4. Place the remaining 6 sts from scrap yarn onto 2 dpns and (K2tog) 3X. Thread working yarn
through the 3 live sts and pull closed. Seam inside of ear closed. Embroider face (5).

4
Legs (make 2)
CO 4 sts onto 1 dpn and work a 4-stitch for about 1½ inches. Cut yarn, thread through live sts
and pull closed. Weave in loose end, seam legs side by side to the bottom of body (6).
