The revised norms and Fitment structure for the faculty members of VIT are given below. There shall
be 12 grades. Faculty fitment level grid is as under,

Note: Other additional allowances, such as question paper setting, summer remuneration / winter / weekend
remuneration etc., have been recalibrated / adjusted while restructuring the 7th pay recommendations
2. Please note that minimum qualification for a faculty member is a Ph.D. (except in special
areas such as, Catering & Hotel management, Architecture, Law, Design, Multimedia &
Animation and Fashion Technology).
3. During recruitment, candidates who have completed Ph.D. viva, may be considered in
appropriate entry grade with consolidated pay. Upon production of the Ph.D. provisional
certificate he / she may be fixed at applicable level with scale.
4. All the existing Non-Ph.D. faculty members (except in special areas such as, Catering & Hotel
management, Architecture, Law, Design, Multimedia & Animation and Fashion Technology)
will be under salary stagnation, till they submit their successful completion of Ph.D.
provisional certification.
5. For Promotion to next level, there will be a minimum requirement of 2 years of service in a
level with an average 75% as PE Score. After 3rd year, if 2nd & 3rd year average points
(moving average method) is more than 75% then he/she will be eligible for promotion.
6. When the average performance of the faculty member is not adequate, where average PE
score is less than 75% on completion of 4th year, then EB [Efficiency Bar] will come into force
and he / she will be stagnated. During the stagnation period the performance will be reviewed
and appropriate action will be initiated.
8. Promotion is based on merit, provided the position is available (vacancy based promotion).
Fitment Guidelines for Existing Faculty Members
Grade fitment for existing faculty members will be as per the Pay Matrix 2018. For fitment, status as
on 1st July 2018 will be considered and fitted as given below:
