Trial and error method is one of the

most gruelling and time-consuming
sides of the traditional human-managed
education system. Taking the deductive
reasoning out of teaching and learning
can help save both teachers and
students a lot of time and frustration.

Artificial intelligence systems can be

used to solve these intricate problems in
an instant, freeing up the teachers and
students for other essential activities.
The system would also break down the
solution to help students tackle similar
problems in the future.

HOW TO WRITE
THE PERFECT
DATA SCIENTIST
RESUME

As data scientists, we often see a good and a perfect resume plays an important role for a
Transition into a Data Science role.

In fact, you can optimize the conversion rate between each step of the application process:

Applications Interviews Job Offers

We’ll look at how you can improve your rate of Applications Interviews by writing a
top notch Data Scientist resume.

We’ve compiled our favorite tips for writing the perfect data scientist CV, and they’re
broken into 3 sections:

Before you start preparing your resume

While Writing Your Resume

Editing Your Resume

5
BEFORE WRITING YOUR RESUME

To-Do List:

Carefully read the job descriptions for 5 positions you like.

Note the patterns. Which skills and experiences show up repeatedly?

Note the people. Will you work with the engineering team or with the analysts?

Write one or two paragraphs summarizing the perfect candidate in your own words.

Re-read this description each time you sit down to write or edit your resume! This will put you in
the right frame of mind.

WHILE WRITING THE RESUME

To-Do List:

Write down all of the relevant work experiences / courses / awards / projects that might make it
into a submitted resume.

Under each experience, write and refine TWICE the number bullet points that you’ll need. For
example, let’s say you (a) built a data pipeline, (b) optimized prediction models, (c) analyzed user
data, and (d) made presentation decks during an internship. Even if you'll only keep 2 bullet
points for that experience, write bullet points for all 4 tasks for now.

For each application, spin off a custom version by keeping the most relevant bullet points. Also,
except for special circumstances, try to limit your submitted resume to 1-page max
(i.e. be selective and curate!).

(Bonus) To save even more time, you can re-use spin-offs for similar jobs!

EDITING YOUR RESUME

To-Do List:

Use Action Verbs, Don't "Utilize" Them

Translate Technical Jargon

Replace "Scarecrow Adjectives"

Curate, Curate, Curate

Govt asks for safety chip in drones to avoid mishaps

The government has reportedly asked drone manufacturers to install safety chips for switch-
ing off drones remotely to avoid mishaps. This was reportedly suggested in a meeting with
the MoS Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha at the Global Aviation Summit. The suggestion was
followed by discussions on events involving drones, like the closure of London's Gatwick and
Heathrow airports over drone sightings.

Salesforce Commerce Cloud updates keep us shopping with AI-fueled APIs

As people increasingly use their mobile phones and other devices to shop, it has become
imperative for vendors to improve the shopping experience, making it as simple as possible,
given the small footprint. One way to do that is using artificial intelligence. Today, Salesforce
announced some AI-enhanced APIs designed to keep us engaged as shoppers. That means
shopping recommendations could pop up anywhere developers think it makes sense, like on
your maps app.

How Twitch Is Pumping Adrenaline Into Games With Data Analytics

When it comes to using gaming analytics, Twitch is one of those platforms that is helping
game developers across the world to understand how his/her games are doing on the plat-
form. Today, data is not only getting generated from the watch and play but also from the
viewer and broadcaster interactivity, and Twitch analyses the gathered data and show devel-
opers how the community of creators and viewers are engaging with their games. Twitch is
also leveraging the superpowers of data science and analytics to better understand its users.
Analytics can make gaming more fun as it can reveal trends and the real-time impact of new
features that can’t be done just by having a conversation with some players.

Manufacturing Analytics: The 20% conversion-cost opportunity

Much of the potential lies in the increasing ability to leverage data to significantly improve manufacturing
processes. Manufacturers who do so effectively can derive tremendous competitive advantage from it, with up to
20% conversion-cost savings. But despite this tantalizing reward, most analytics efforts within the industry fail to
deliver anything close to that level of saving because they do not target high-value opportunities. Where, then,
are the big opportunities to use analytics to transform manufacturing?

1 Surf excel detergent usage in a day in India?

In India the population is around 125 crore.

To Estimate the amount of surf excel being used we have to divide the population
into households. Some family have 4–5 members, some have 1–2 members, So
taking Average as 3 members per family we have 125/3 = 42 crore households.
Out of the total population 60% is the rural one and 40% comprises of the urban
population assuming 30% urban population is using detergents and 10% rural
population.that means 40% population is using detergents.

40% of 42 crore households = 16 crore households.

The detergent market consists of Surf Excel, Ariel, Tide and others. Assuming
Surf excel has 30% market control, ariel has 20%, Tide 20% and others(Safed, Rin
) as 30%
.
So 30% of 16 crore households = approx 4.5 crore. Assuming each household to
use 15 gm of surf.

Total surf used = 4.5 Crore*15gm = 675000 kg in a day.

14
2 How many Google searches do you
do per day?

The search giants won’t answer this question specifically.

However, Google released an statement in 2012 saying that their servers could
handle 1.2 trillion search queries.
This also does not mean that Google received exactly the same number of
searches.

If you dig deep, bots make the majority of internet search traffic, about 52%,
according to Incapsula. Google, in 2016, reported to Search Engine Land that it
handles “trillions” of searches per year worldwide, meaning the servers handle
at least more than two trillions.

Considering these numbers,

48% of human searches that Google can handle per year= 960,000,000,000
Total world population today = 7.347 billion
Global Internet Usage today = 3.7 billion
Average Searches Per Person Per Year = 960,000,000,000/3.7 billion
~ 260 searches/person/year.

However, this number can not be taken as an absolute for an average person!
This is because about 50% of Google users never make a search.

15
3 What is the total number of people
who get a new job in India in a year?

• 35 million students enroll in India (Undergraduate, graduate, doctorate, diploma)

• 72% of 35 million graduate every year = 25 million
• Students completing 10th grade = 20 million
• Students completing 12th grade = 15 million
• Unemployed graduates of the previous year = 15 million
(Since 60% of 25 million graduates are unemployed)
• GDP growth rate is 7%

Calculations:

• 40% of 25 million graduates are only employed= 10 million

• Assuming 500,000 of the previous year’s graduates get a new job
• 100,000 starts working after 12th grade due to poverty, poor grades etc
• An estimate of 50,000 starts working after 10th grade due to poverty, poor grades etc
• 10,000 people already on workforce end up with a new job

Total = 10 million + 500,000 + 100,000 + 50,000 + 10,000

= 10.66 million (approx)

Note:

• Migrants working in India are negligible

• Due to urbanization, very few go for work
without completing their 10th grade
• Increased feminism has a significant
effect on the estimates
