more likely to fall over in the house.
8. Do you think that Sir Henry Curtis‟s brother was right to look for King Solomon‟s Mines? Why/Why
not?
 Yes, because it helped his family to become rich./No, because the gold and diamonds in the mines was
not his or his country‟s.

 I would prefer a package tour because it saves me money.
Do you think that it can be difficult to visit some places around the world because there are too many
tourists? Why / Why not?

 Yes, because it can be difficult to travel, to find places in restaurants and cafés, etc.
13. What do you think is the main reason for climate change?
 The main reason is that we are adding greenhouse gases to the atmosphere by burning fuels such as oil
and gas.
14. Do you think that we can stop global warming by using our cars less? Why / Why not?
 No, because there are other man-made reasons such as pollution from factories and natural reasons
such as volcanoes.
15. Do you think that mass tourism is a good thing for most countries? Why/Why not?
 Yes, because a lot of tourists bring money to a country./No, because too
many tourists can damage buildings and cause problems for people who live there.
16. Which areas of the world do you think will be most affected by climate change? Why?
 Countries with a lot of low areas will be affected because there may be floods. Also, hot
countries will be more affected because they may become even hotter.
17. Do you think that the whale Moby Dick was cruel? Why/Why not?
 No, he was not cruel. Although he killed a lot of people, he only did this because he did not want them
to kill him. He was only trying to protect himself.

 We should teach people about it at school, so they know about the dangers before they start working on
computers.

 It is good because it helps farmers to grow more crops which will stop people being hungry. However,
it may be bad if it brings new diseases in the future.
20. Why should we not leave food cooking in the kitchen?
 Because this might cause a fire.
21. What can you do in your home to make it safer?
 You can understand the possible dangers and make sure you do not do anything that can cause
accidents.
22. Why do you think that Sir Henry Curtis‟s brother wanted to find King Solomon‟s Mines?
 He probably wanted to become rich because he knew the mines were full of gold and diamonds.
23. Why do you think that Rider Haggard made the Africans in King Solomon‟s Mines primitive?
 He wanted the story to be about how primitive people and people from Europe might not understand
each other. Perhaps he also thought some people in Africa were primitive at this time.
24. Do you think that social media is a good thing or a bad thing? Why?
22 Mr.Reda El Badawy Final Revision 2nd sec.
Final Revision 2nd sec. Mr.Reda El Badawy

 No, because there would be too many tourists and it would also be very hot in the middle of summer.
27. Which qualities do you think that you need to be a successful teacher?

returns to England?
 He probably thinks that they will not believe him.
16. Do you think that the giant farmer was a kind man? Why / Why not?

him to the queen.
17. Why did the giants put Gulliver's bed inside a cupboard?
 It was a place that was safe from rats.
18. How did Gulliver learn the language of the giants?
 The farmer‟s daughter, Glumdalclitch, taught him.

 They were much bigger but in other ways they were the same. They laughed at the same things,
worried about the same things and enjoyed doing the same things.
20. Why did the King think that the farmer had tricked the Queen?
 He did not believe that a small person could exist, so he thought it must be a trick.

harbours because they never travelled over the sea.
24. Do you think that Gulliver was right to feel that he did not want Glumdalclitch with him all
the time? Why/Why not?
 Yes, because he needed his own space and freedom. However, he also needed Glumdalclitch to help
him in difficult situations.
25. Why do you think that the monkey took Gulliver?
 Perhaps the monkey thought that Gulliver was a baby monkey, because the monkey holds him
carefully and tries to feed him.

 Because he thinks that the idea of weapons is terrible. He does not want to learn about them from
Gulliver.
27. Why you think that the king of Brobdingnag wanted Gulliver to have friends from his own country
living in the palace with him?
 He realised that Gulliver was thinking about his family and his own country. He thought that this
would help him. He also thought that Gulliver was lucky to live in his country because England
sounded like a terrible place, with wars and battles.

About: keeping safe in the house
Hi Sara,
How are you ? I hope you are well. In today‟s email, I‟d like to talk about how to keep safe
in the house. As we know , most accidents happen in the house, especially in the living room and the
most serious injuries happen in the kitchen. So , I‟m going to give you some tips to prevent accidents at
home. Firstly, you shouldn‟t leave food cooking in the kitchen. Secondly, you should turn off and unplug
electrical equipment when it is not in use. Never overload electrical sockets. Finally, you should have, at
least, a fire extinguisher in case of fire. I hope these tips will benefit you.

About: Rider Hagard‟s King Solomon‟s Mines

Hi Sara,
How are you? I hope you are well. In today‟s email, I‟d like to talk about a book I‟ve just
finished reading it. It is called “King Solomon‟s Mines” and written by Rider Haggard. He published it
in 1885 to immense commercial success. It has greatly affected the adventure genre ever since.
The story of the novel takes place in Victorian Africa. An ageing hunter guides an expedition
to discover the fabled source of the biblical King‟s wealth. Confronted by
the brutal king and immortal witch who guard the treasure, he has to use all his cunning to
survive.
The expedition sets off on foot. Despite the map, they nearly die of thirst in the desert and cold in
the mountains. Eventually, the expedition reaches the ancient road that leads to the mines, and
finds it‟s in good condition. I really recommend this book to you. It‟s amazing.

The Importance of tourism

Tourism is the second main source of national income after petroleum products.
It brings in a lot of hard currency which we need to import goods. Tourists from all over the world visit
Egypt all the year round. Egypt has many famous sights and tourist attractions. Tourists also enjoy the
fine weather in Egypt.
Tourists can visit places of interest such as the Pyramids, the temples, the museums and other
historic places. The government does its best to encourage the tourist industry. New tourist villages are
built. Splendid hotels are erected. The government provides cheap and comfortable means of transport.
Egyptians do their best to welcome tourists and treat them well. When tourism flourishes , our national
income improves.

To: Pip
From: Ahmed
About: some of the environmental problems
Hi Pip,
How are you? I hope you are fine. I want to tell you about some of the environmental
problems in the world. Firstly, I would like to say that pollution is the base of all environmental
problems in the world. One of the most serious environmental problems is global warming. Global
warming is an environmental problem that is caused by the increase of carbon dioxide in the
atmosphere which, in turn, leads to the increase of the earth's temperature. If the earth's
temperature increases, ice at the Arctic and Antarctica will melt. And if ice melts ,countries which
are below sea level are in danger of disappearance under water. Finally, I would like to say that if
we couldn't do anything to help the environment in our world, our world would face dangerous
and serious environmental problems.

-An email to your English friend Harry/ Harriet about what they can do to help stop global
warming

To: Harriet
From: Mariam
About: what they can do to help stop global warming

Hi Harriet,
How are you? I hope you are fine. In today‟s email, I‟d like to talk about a very serious problem
nowadays. This problem causes great damage to the environment and all living things.
It‟s “Global Warming”. What do you think we can do to stop this problem?
Well, I think there are a lot of things we can do to preserve the environment. Factories should be moved
to land outside cities. A great number of trees should be planted along the sides of the roads. Trees take in
carbon dioxide and release oxygen, so they help to clean the air.
The government should pass laws to reduce the number of cars on the roads. We have to spread
awareness among ordinary people of the importance of preserving the environment. We must teach young
children how to keep the environment clean. If we succeed in preserving (conserving) the environment,
our children and grandchildren can enjoy the world we live in. Preserving the environment has become a
very important issue in the modern world.
Ordinary people have to cooperate with the government and scientists to get rid of global
warming. If this continues to increase, life on earth will be in great danger. Even ordinary
people can help to eliminate this serious problem.

Hi Fatma,
How are you? I hope you are fine. I want to tell you about what inspires me.
Every one of us has something in their life that inspires them. Some people are inspired by
beautiful nature, others by love. I myself am inspired by beautiful faces of babies. A beautiful
baby face makes me very happy and full of energy. The smile and the innocence of a baby face
makes everything worthwhile .Once I saw a baby girl called Rodayna. She was so beautiful and
when she smiled, her smile would fill the day with flowers and roses. The day I couldn't see her I
felt dull and gloomy. However, since she stopped seeing her, nothing has inspired me. I am just
trying to find her or another baby face that could inspire me. What about you?
