The climate in the UK and USA

The climate in the UK and USA has a great impact on people’s lives, developing process of economy,
tourism and agriculture. The locals have learned to get the best benefits from their climate.
The climate in United Kingdom is generally mild and temperate due to the influence of the Gulf
Stream. The climate in Britain is usually described as cool, temperate and humid. British people say: "Other
countries have a climate, in England we have weather." This is true because the weather in Britain changes
very quickly. One day may be fine and the next day may be wet. The morning may be warm and the evening
may be cool.
While, the United States, being a huge country, is home to a wide variety of climates. The climate of
the United States varies due to differences in latitude, and a range of geographic features, including
mountains and deserts. Generally, on the mainland, the climate of the US becomes warmer the further south
one travels, and drier the further west, until one reaches the West Coast.
Different parts of the UK experience slightly different regional climates. These can be summarized
as: north west – cool summers, mild winters and heavy rain all year; north east – cool summers, cold
winters and steady rain all year; south east – warm summers, cold winters and light rain all year; south
west – warm summers, mild winters and heavy rain all year.
In contrast to UK, US is typically grouped into five different regions: the Northeast, the Southwest,
the West, the Southeast and the Midwest. USA climate varies dramatically by region. Northeast is
characterized by a fairly diverse climate, with bitterly cold winters that bring ice storms and snowstorms)
and semi-humid summers. Along the West Coast, particularly the farther north you travel, you can expect
cool, wet winters and dry, cool summers. Meanwhile, the climate in the Southeast could be best described
as humid and sub-tropical, with warmish winters and (very, very) hot summers. And, the Midwest is similar
in that summers are humid, although winters are usually much colder than in the Southeast.
On the other hand, because of the landforms and climate, the USA provide people with different
environmental challenges. These challenges are in the form of severe storms and other natural disasters
such tornado, blizzard, drought, hurricane, gale, earthquake or volcano.
Both countries have four district seasons of fairly equal length – spring, summer, autumn and winter.
In both countries winter is colder and wetter and the days are shorter than in summer. Summer are usually
warm.
The United States has a great variety of climate regions such as Arctic, subarctic, Mediterranean,
tropical or continental climate. Also, United Kingdom has a large variety of climate regions. In all four
parts there are different types of climate and weather.
Each climate region brings their advantages and disadvantages, which can affect the people’s lives.
But, booth countries are accustomed to their type of climate and they also are accustomed to get the best
from this.
