INSTRUCTIONS FOR A PEER TO PEER NETWORK OF

WINDOWS 7 (20 Minutes)


Pre-requisite:

1. Two computers with working Windows 7 Ultimate OS.


2. Functional crossover LAN cable.
3. Ethernet controller drivers installed.

Setup Guide:

Crossover LAN Cable

PC01-Computer Name: PC02-Computer Name:


SURNAME FIRSTNAME
Workgroup: SECTION

Instructions:
1. Plug in the Crossover LAN Cable on each computer.

2. Click (Start) , select Control Panel, choose Network and Internet, select Network Sharing Center, click
Change Adapter Settings, Right click on Local Area Connection, select Properties, click Internet Protocol Version
4 (IPV4), click properties, select Use the following IP Address:
IP Address: 192.168.11.25
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.11.1
Preferred DNS Server: 192.168.11.1
3. On the Network Sharing Center, choose Change advanced sharing settings, set Home/Work and Public Profile to
the following:
Turn on network discovery
Turn on file and printer sharing
Turn off Public folder sharing
Turn off password protected sharing
4. Click (Start) , right click on Computer, select Properties, change settings and follow the Setup guide above.
This will restart the system.
5. On the Desktop, right click, choose New, select Folder, name the folder same with the PC name, right click on
the folder you made, choose Properties, select Sharing, choose Advanced sharing, check Share this folder,
choose Permissions, check Full control under Allow column. Then apply, OK and close. On the same properties of
the folder click Share, click dropdown arrow list, select Everyone, click Add and set the Permission level to
Read/Write for Everyone and last click Share and Done.
6. On the second PC, do step 2 above with the following settings:

IP Address: 192.168.11.30
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.11.1
Preferred DNS Server: 192.168.11.1

7. Repeat Steps 2 to 5.
8. On each computer, press type ping<space><ip address><space>-t, then press enter.
