Subject: Implementation of Amendment No 1, July 2015 to IS 8130:2013

Conductors for Insulated Electric Cables and Flexible Cords –
Specification (Second revision).

Amendment No 1, July 2015 to IS 8130:2013 Conductors for Insulated Electric Cables

and Flexible Cords – Specification (Second revision) has been issued. The said
amendment has been notified vide Gazette Notification (Extraordinary) dated 14 07 2015
with date of establishment 14 07 2015.

As per Gazette Notification, the amendment is effective from 14 July 2015.

IS 8130:2013 is one of the referred standards in other standards on electric cables such as
IS 694:2010, IS 1554(Pt.1&Pt.2):1988 and IS 7098(Pt.2):2011 etc. Out of which, IS 694
is mandatory standard and large number of licences are in operation under different
RO/BOs as per these Standards. (copy of the amendment is enclosed and is also available
on BIS website).

All RO/BOs are requested to inform licensees and applicants under their jurisdiction
about issuance of above amendment for implementation and compliance.

This is issued with the approval of the Competent Authority.
