1. Sketch the root locus for a control system with G(s)H(s) = 𝑠2 +6𝑠+10 . Also determine
the range of values of k for which the system is (a) overdamped (b) critically damped
and (c) underdamped.
2. The open loop transfer function of a unity feedback system is G(s) = k/s(1+Ts). Find
by what factor the gain k be reduced so that (a) maximum overshoot is reduced from
60% to 50%. (b) damping ratio is increased from 0.1 to 0.6.
3. A system is described by difference equation d2y/dt2 + 8dy/dt + 25y(t) = 50 x(t).
Evaluate the response and maximum output for a step of 2.5 units.
4. For a rotational system shown in figure, obtain electrical analogous networks based T-
I analogy.
