Tips before wiring (terms)

1) Connection points for power

and weigand communication
-This connection point is where 12V
supplies the product from a power
supply. User ID’s are outputted as
wiegand data. (in the case of
connecting this product on a
different main controller)
2) Sensor
- Point to connect various sensors
such as door contacts, security
sensors or an exit button
3) Relay1, 2
-Point to connect door locks, or
alarm devices
4) Serial Port
-232,422 communication lines

5) Tamper Switch
-Will sound an alarm when
product is forced off a wall

6) Dummy Load
-Set Dummy Load when
connecting jumper

7) Controller Address Switch

-This switch assigns each
controller to separate address
when several controllers (KF-
2000) are connected to a
computer in order to differentiate

Line Connections (Power)

On the back of the KF-2000 connect a DC 12V (1A) (8~24V) on the 7 pin
connector as shown in the picture.
Warning
- Do not connect to a AC power supply.
-Low power currents may effect operation
- Make sure there are no problems with power before connecting

KEICO HIGH-TEC INC. 8

Line Connections (Power 2)

- For the event of a power failure, a backup battery should be installed.

- On the back of the circuit board, connect a DC 12V onto the connect power supply
- Ground (GND) and Power supply line (VCC) are shown in the picture below. The pin left
of the connector is ‘VCC’ and the pin on the right is ‘GND’

RS-232 connection to the KF-2000 and Computer

KEICO HIGH-TEC INC. 10

Connection of the KF-2000 to the PC
using the RS-232
-When connecting this product to a main computer within 15 meters, connect to the series
port.
-RS-232 only support single connection

KEICO HIGH-TEC INC. 11

RS-422 connection to the KF-2000 and Computer
-As shown in the picture, it is possible to connect several KF-2000s on the line connecting
the KF-2000 and PC.
- However, one series port can support up to a maximum of 16 KF-2000

KEICO HIGH-TEC INC. 12

Tips before wiring (WAN)
-As shown in the picture, when a main computer controls more
than a maximum of 17 KF-2000s, you must connect the KF-2000s
to more than one port KF-2000 Port
16 1
-The number of ports needed to connect a certain number of
KF-2000s are shown in the chart on the right 32 2
48 3
64 4

Connecting the KF-2000 to a PC using RS-422

- This instruction is when controlling several controllers from a main computer that is more than
15 meters away.
- Multiple lines coming from multiple controllers can be connected to the RS422 converter as
shown below. (Maximum 16 controllers for one converter)

Connecting the KF-2000 to a PC using RS-422

- As shown in the picture, this method is used when controlling several controllers that are
more than 15 meters away from the main computer.
- Multiple lines coming from multiple controllers can be connected to the RS422 converter as
shown below. (Maximum 16 controllers for one converter)

Line Connections - Wiegand Output

- The picture shown shows when connected to a different product, only that the
KF-2000 will act as a reader.
- This is not usually done only in special circumstances.

KEICO HIGH-TEC INC. 18

Line Connections – RF Reader

- Connect the lines from the card reader to the connector on the main unit, when using the
RF card reader.
- The following picture shows the connection for KF-10 (Connections are the same for KP-20.
(Connections can be different by each product. Refer to specific manuals.)
- KF-2000 has ‘Independent Card Reader Function (Optional)’. If this reader is used only 1
card reader can be connected. (If enabled card reader is not used, 2 external readers can be
used independently)

KEICO HIGH-TEC INC. 19

Line Connections – Finger Reader

- If connecting the KF-2000 with a fingerprint reader, refer to the picture shown.
- Since the KF-2000 already has a fingerprint reader, only one fingerprint reader can
be connected.

KEICO HIGH-TEC INC. 20

Connecting the KF-2000 – Sensor 1

- The KF-2000 can be connected to control different kinds of sensors other

than controllers.
- The picture shown displays a door contact connected to an exit button.
- Wires from the door contact and exit button are connected as shown in the picture.

KEICO HIGH-TEC INC. 21

Line Connections – Sensor 2

- The picture shown displays how the KF-2000 controls a automatic sliding door and all devices
related.
- All lines that come from door contacts, sensors, exit buttons and infared sensors should be
connected like the picture shown.

KEICO HIGH-TEC INC. 22

Line Connections– Relay 1

- KF-2000 uses the various signals received from the sensors (mentioned above) with other
devices to physically control access events.
- Devices such as electric strikes or alarms should be connected and activated via ‘CN2’
- Relay 1 can be used for signal alarms

KEICO HIGH-TEC INC. 23

Line Connections – Relay 2

- For additional security, use ‘relay interface PCB’ for installation. (recommended
installation)
- Wiring installation is as follows.
1) Choose between DC12V or DC24V and connect. (the dotted lines indicate possible
connect options)
2) When the door lock is unlocked in normal circumstances connect to ‘NO’ on the PCB.
Connect to ‘NC’ when the door lock is locked in normal circumstances.
3) The connect methods of the Electric Strike differ case to case, please refer to the manual.

KEICO HIGH-TEC INC. 24

Line Connections – Relay 3

- Different from the previous page, the relay consists of one power supply
- In case of a blackout, connect power through ‘UPS’
-Connect the power with a DC 12V located in the back of the circuit board.

KF-2000 Address setup

Address switch

- When setting up several KF-2000’s to a PC, this address is used so that the PC can
recognize each KF-2000 that is connected individually (Mechanical method)

- This can be setup in the KF-2000 program mode. (Logical method)

- Priority is given to the logical method (Logical method) than the mechanical method
(Mechanical method) (H/W). For example, if a switch is used for ‘3’ and the same KF-2000 sets
the address as ‘9’ from a program, the program will recognize the address as ‘9’ instead of ‘3’
- 1 through F(16) is available.
