Dear Ateneo Office Of Admission and Aid,

Ateneo De Manila University has been one of my dream schools to study since I was a kid
because of the good quality of education. When I was a kid, I was firstly familiar in this school because of
its color that symbolizes the name of the school which is blue. I wanted to study here after my stay in
Holistic Education and Development Center because I believe that it may have a better effects of my
healthy friendships to my future classmates and I find a new success in my academics as my family
motivates me to study harder and to elevate my personal development.

In my final year in high school, I struggled to be fully prepared for college entrance exams such
as ACET, UPCAT, DCAT, and USTET because of not having enough review sessions even free during
summer and a shortage of review resources due of money constraints. Even though I use my other
books which I had been used in last 3 years of junior high school, old notebooks and binders, and online
resources, when it comes to CETs, I had a hard time to analyse questions. In the end, results were
released. Unfortunately, I had failed all of them except USTET which I scored ¾ but due of my score in
mental ability I had failed to meet the cut-off of my alternative program in BS ECE.

During my preparations in ACET, I tried to review the grammar structures in my old books
because I know that I often commit some errors when I write sentences. I also read some reading
selections which I believed they would be helpful in analysing paragraphs. I also browse in Internet
about trivia in music, cinema and science for the general information sub-test which I thought they
would come out. The night before my test date, I already cried because of the tendency that I would
fail. My mother has an encouraging message that to enable to focus on ACET I should stop reviewing on
hours before I sleep.

On the day of ACET, I had mixed feelings of confidence and nervousness. I brought my analytical
ability for language and reading subtests which I brought out my average confidence to answer them.
When I was answering math subtest, I solved some problems in my scratch paper and I answered the
rest in my educated guess. I had some trouble to analyse the questions but I tried to shotgun to answer
the easiest questions to go back to reread them.

I wish that you may reconsider my application because of my will to be successful in my

academics even I am an average person who has a good knowledge inclined to math and science. These
have been elevated my interests to academics since junior high school and become the factors of my
plans in my future. In my last 2 years in high school, I am very active in many school activities such as
immersion and extracurricular activities.

In my additional academic background where I mainly attend Kumon sessions until grade 9, I
excelled in mathematics which I had earned gold math awards in Kumon method from 2007-2010 and
had been ranked as top 25 during my first elementary years and I am an average reader which I also
earned sliver awardees in reading also from 2007-2010. I became a Reading completer in November
2014 receiving an award next year and Math completer in January 2016 receiving award 9 months later.
Aside from being a Kumon Achiever, during my stay in Hedcen, I was also an intermediately
accomplished intramural athlete who became five-time arm wrestling champion, one-time champion
2nd placer, and 3rd placer in Uphill run, and a member of runner up tug-of-war team once and winning
tug-of-war teams twice. I was also a member of football varsity team from 2013-15 which I earned an
achievement when I was part of 1999 team that won 3rd place in Nomads Cup invitational tournament in
2014.

In my extracurricular times in high school, I became one time member of Construction in grade 7
due of my schedule in varsity football practices. In grade 8, I joined table tennis club. There, I learned
some basics of gameplay and had won some of my matches there. In grade 9 to grade 10, I joined chess
club because I had started to play chess regularly in a summer of 2015. I mastered some chess tactics
and move vulnerabilities. Since I joined chess club, I regularly win and lose matches which they have
improved my tactical mindset. During my 2 year-stay in La Salle College Antipolo, I joined chess
competition in our intramurals one in each year. I gathered 2-2 record in grade 11 and 4-3 record in
grade 12.

I also had gained leadership experience when I attended leadership seminar in La Salle College
Antipolo last July 21 2018. There, I learned some leadership lessons for my class duties as an Earth Patrol
Officer.

I consider this appeal may be a viable chance for me to get admitted in Ateneo because it is the
nearest university to my house which is in brgy. Dalig in Antipolo City and to enable myself to avoid
being stuck in traffic.

Sincerely,

Jericho Crisostomo Ventanilla
