TO DISCOVER
From French cuisine to art galleries and museums, from fashion and luxury to
cultural traditions and sport events, France is a place you should experience
at least once in your life. The country has a long and rich history and it has to
offer for every taste.
For all these reasons, France leads the world in the field of tourism. The
country of France is the most visited of the world’s countries, and likewise,
its capital, Paris, is the most visited city in the world!
Besides, French students as well as international students benefit from
many discounts in the cultural, transportation and leisure sectors (cinema,
sport, library, museum, theatre…)
France is also perfectly located at the heart of Europe. It shares borders
with Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium and the
principalities of Andorra and Monaco. From Paris, many of the European
capitals are accessible by train. If you prefer the plane, Berlin, Rome and
Madrid are less than a two-hour flight away from a large number of French
cities. France being a member of the European Union, it gives you the
opportunity to travel freely and without a visa in the twenty-six countries in
the Schengen area!
If you choose to study specifically in Montpellier, Southern France, you

EUROPEAN STUDENTS
EU students do not need a visa to enter France and can apply directly to the
university or graduate school of their choice. However, you will need an ID
or a passport valid during the whole study period in France.
NON-EUROPEAN STUDENTS
If you are a non-European Student, you will need a student visa. You can get
one by applying to the French Government website : APPLY FOR A VISA
You might have to register with a Campus France Center before applying for
your visa. If so, the Campus France Center will give you a registration number
which is required to start your visa process.

UNIVERSITY RESIDENCES
The rooms in the university residences are managed by the CROUS (Regional
Centres of University and Academic Services). There is one CROUS per
educational region.

specialists who provide French healthcare to every resident in France
regardless of age, income or status.
GOOD TO KNOW:
✔ EUROPEAN STUDENTS
Before leaving your country, ask for your European Health
Insurance Card (EHIC) and bring it with you. Make sure that your
EHIC will be valid for the whole duration of your stay in France.
✔ NON-EUROPEAN STUDENTS
Registration is done online on the website of the health insurance
dedicated to foreign students. Once you have registered at your
institute or higher education, sign up on the following link and
