1.3. Warranty
Our liability for defects in the consignment is defined in our terms of delivery. We will not ac-
cept liability for damage that occurs as a result of non-observance of the operating instructions
and specified operating conditions. If the operating conditions change at a later date (e.g. tem-
perature or pressure ratio), we will need to check this on a case-by-case basis and provide con-
firmation (if necessary) that the pump is suitable for the intended application. Unless a special
agreement is made, pumps supplied by us may only be opened or modified by us or one of our
authorised service workshops during the warranty period, otherwise we cannot be held liable for
defects that arise.
1.4. Test
The performance and tightness of all pumps is tested before they leave the factory: only pumps
that are in proper working order and have the output we promise to deliver leave the factory. If
the operating instructions below are observed this will guarantee fault-free operation.
1.5. Engineering design
Naturally-aspirated, one or two-speed eccentric screw pump. The delivery elements are the ro-
tor and stator. The drive torque is transferred to the rotor via the drive shaft and cardan shaft.
The discharge housing, stator and suction housing are held together by external housing con-
necting bolts (clamping bolts). The stuffing box housing (or optionally the mechanical seal
housing) is installed between the suction housing and bearing pedestal.
1.6. Mode of operation
Naturally-aspirated, rotating displacement pump whose delivery elements are the rotating ec-
centric screw (rotor) and the fixed stator. Depending on the model, both of these elements
make contact in the cross section at two or three points that form two or three seal lines when
viewed along the length of the delivery elements. The content of the sealed chambers pro-
duced by the turning motion of the rotor is axially and fully continuously displaced from the in-
take side to the discharge side of the pump. No turbulence occurs, despite the turning motion of
the rotor. The unchanging volume of the chamber excludes the possibility of compression
forces occurring and therefore ensures extremely gentle, pulsation-free delivery.
1.7. Pump output
The pump is designed to produce a suction head of 6 -7 m at delivery medium temperatures of
up to approx. 30°C and a pumping head of up to 30 m WS (3 bar). If the maximum suction
head (6-7 m) or discharge head (30 m) can no longer be achieved, the stator and rotor should
be checked for wear and replaced if necessary.

Appendix 1 - AEP oil-separation pump 8th edition V301103001 Page 4
IMPORTANT!
The pump is a displacement pump; it must not be operated upstream of closed fit-
tings.
IMPORTANT!
The rotational direction of the pump is "CLOCKWISE" when viewed from the motor. If
the rotational direction is incorrect, there is an acute danger that the pump will run
dry!
The pump must never run dry, this must be avoided at all costs!
You can avoid this danger by ensuring that the rotational direction is correct. The control sys-
tem will only start the pump once the oil-separator housing is filled with water.
IMPORTANT!
The oil-separation pump is designed to operate at a maximum temperature of 45°C.
At temperatures higher than 45°C, excessive starting torque occurs in the motor due to ther-
mal expansion of the materials which means that the motor is in danger of being damaged
beyond repair.

WARNING!
Do not reach into the area of the rotating shaft around the stuffing box packing as there is a
danger
of severe injury to fingers.
IMPORTANT!
The packed stuffing box must drip slightly when the pump is in operation.
You should regularly tighten the nuts on the stuffing box cover slowly and evenly until the stuff-
ing box only drips slightly. If you renew the packing, make sure that the surface of the stub
shaft is undamaged.
If the losses due to leaks increase excessively and this cannot be rectified by gently tightening
the hexagon nuts (202) several times, the packing rings have lost their elasticity of form and
must be replaced
3.3.1. Removing the old packing rings and cleaning the stuffing box hous-
ing
Once the pump has been depressurised and the stuffing box cover has been removed, the old
packing rings can then be removed. You can use a packing extractor with a flexible shaft to do
this. Carefully clean the stuffing gland space and stub shaft in the area of the packing rings.
Always replace worn out stub shafts (see 4 Disassembling the oil-separation pump).

With any on-site work, the in-house personnel or our service personnel must be made aware of any
dangers that may be present when carrying out repairs. The most important disassembly and as-
sembly work is described in these instructions. The installation steps described in the individual sec-
tions must be consistently observed.
DANGER!
Before the pump can be removed, you must switch off the power supply and disconnect the motor
connection cable at the motor.
Next, remove the bolts at the intake and discharge flange and at the pump supports.
4.1. Disassembly
4.1.1. Remove the locking bolt 502 and seal 503 then drain off delivery fluid.
4.1.2. Remove nuts 609 and washers 610 from the clamping bolts 611.
4.1.3. Pull off the housing 504.
4.1.4. Remove clamping bolts 611.
4.1.5. Pull the stator 402 off the rotor 401. If it does not move easily, turn the stator 402 at
the same time. In doing so, arrest the stub shaft 125.
4.1.6. Remove the nut 607, serrated lock washer 608 and hexagon-head bolt 606. Only ap-
plies for sizes 4, 5, 6 and 7.
4.1.7. Pull the housing 505 off over the rotor 401 – be sure to avoid damaging the precision-
engineered rotor.
4.1.8. Remove the seal for the housing 501.
4.1.9. Knock the driving pin 123 out of the stub shaft 125 (AEP1; AEP2; AEP3; AEP4;
AEP5; AEP6; AEP7). For AEP4-2, AEP5-2, AEP6-2, AEP8D, AEP9D and AEP10D
remove splash collar (123) from clamping set (123). Undo the clamping bolts of the
clamping set (123) evenly and sequentially. For this purpose, turn the stub shaft
(125), if required. If the outer ring of the clamping set does not independently disen-
gage the inner ring some clamping bolts can be unscrewed and screwed into the ad-
jacent threaded extraction holes. Depressurisation is possible without any problem
now. Never remove clamping bolts completely (risk of accident).
4.1.10. Pull the stub shaft 125 out of the lantern base 122 with all components of the shaft
seal. For AEP 4-2, AEP5-2, AEP6-2, AEP8D, AEP9D and AEP10D, pull out the
clamping set (123) as well and remove it from the stub shaft (125) then.
4.1.11. Undo self-locking nut 202, remove hammer-head bolt 201 and stuffing box cover
203.
4.1.12. Remove the stuffing box housing 204 from the stub shaft 125.
4.1.13. Take the stuffing box packing 207 out of the stuffing box housing 204.
4.1.14. Cut the metal seals at the joint fittings 306 using a metal saw and remove them from
the joint collars.
4.1.15. Lever up the joint collar 308 with a screwdriver and remove it by turning it axially to-
wards the cardan shaft 307.
RWO GmbH * Marine Water Technology * Bremen * Germany Peter Gross; Edition: 11.10.2009
Appendix 1 - AEP oil-separation pump 8th edition V301103001 Page 7
4.1.16. Pull the joint housing 304 over the cardan shaft collar 307. Note: File off the punched
fastening that holds the joint 304 housing axially in position first. Do not tilt the cardan
shaft 307 when removing the joint housing 304!
4.1.17. Eject the joint bolts 301 (AEP4-2, AEP5-2, AEP6-2, AEP8D, AEP9D, AEP10D).
4.1.18. Insert the ejector through one of the joint bolt casings 303 and drive the other casing
303 halfway out. Tilt the cardan shaft 307 to do so. Repeat the above procedure with
the second joint bolt casing.
4.1.19. Remove the rotor 401 from the cardan shaft 307.
4.1.20. Remove the joint on the drive side as described in sections 4.1.14 to 4.1.19.
IMPORTANT!
Remove the punched fastening on the front of the joint housing 304.
4.1.21. Detach lantern base 122 from drive.
4.1.22. Press joint housings 302 out of the cardan shaft 307 (pump sizes 4, 5, 6 and 7 only).
4.1.23. Use a brass drift to knock the joint bolt casings 303 out of the stub shaft 125 and rotor
401.
4.2. Assembly
4.2.1. After carefully cleaning the pump and/or individual components, assemble these by
following the above procedure in reverse.
IMPORTANT!
Pay particular attention to the following:
4.2.2. When carrying out 4.1.23 in reverse, drive the casings of the joint bolt 303 halfway
into the stub shaft 125 and rotor 401 using the brass drift.
4.2.3. When carrying out 4.1.22 in reverse, press the joint housing 302 into the cardan shaft
so that the longitudinal axis of the oval hole (identified by 2 notches) is aligned with
the longitudinal axis of the cardan shaft 307 and so that the joint housing projects
from the cardan shaft equally on both sides. Only applies for sizes 4, 5, 6 and 7.
4.2.4. When carrying out 4.1.18 in reverse, connect the joints and drive in the casings for
the joint bolts 303 completely.
4.2.5. When carrying out 4.1.16 in reverse, once you have mounted the joint housing 304,
fix it by turning it axially towards the head of the rotor 401 or stub shaft 125.
4.2.6. Note: Use a prick punch to carefully drive the front of the joint housing 304 into the
groove of the rotor shaft head.
4.2.7. When carrying out 4.2.15 in reverse, mount joint collar 308 using a screwdriver, lever
it up at the top, insert the nozzle of the oil bottle under the housing and fill the joint
space with RWO Type B special joint oil or ET 1510 ISO 460 oil manufactured by
Tribol Lubricants GmbH. Fill up to the overflow (approx. 4 - 7 cc).
4.2.8. When carrying out 4.1.14 in reverse, tension the joint clamps 306 using the corre-
sponding fitting tool (available from RWO).
4.2.9. When carrying out 4.1.13 in reverse, push the stuffing box housing 204 on to the stub
shaft 125 then insert stuffing box packing 207.
4.2.10. When carrying out 4.1.5 in reverse, coat the stator 402 and rotor 401 with lubricant
prior to mounting (silicone oil, polydiol, soft soap or similar).
4.2.11. When carrying out 4.1.2 in the reverse order, make sure housing 505 and stator 402
are distortion-free. Tighten hexagon bolts 609 and clamping bolts 611 evenly.

Insufficient play between stator and rotor, or stator is fixed. Turn the pump manually, or with
1
the assistance of suitable equipment.
Check the rotational direction, if this is incorrect, change it by changing over two power lines,
2
e.g. L1 and L2.
3 Check the suction line for tightness.
Check the suction head; if possible increase the diameter on the intake side, or use filters
4
with larger openings. Fully open the valves.
5 Check the viscosity of the delivery medium.
6 Check the speed at the pump and drive. Check the voltage and supply frequency.
7 Prevent air entering the delivery medium.
8 Check the discharge head; open all valves completely; remove blockage from discharge line
The pump is running partially or completely dry. Check for a sufficient supply of delivery me-
9
dium.
10 Check the longitudinal gap if joint bearings are installed - they may be incorrectly installed.
Check whether the pump contains foreign objects. Disassemble the pump and remove for-
11
eign objects.
12 The stator and rotor are worn out; disassemble and replace used parts.
13 Worn out parts with joint bearings - disassemble pump and renew used parts.
14 Intake line to SKIT S or coalescer of the oil separator partially or completely blocked.
Check the temperature of the delivery medium. If temperature difference is high, warping
15
may occur as a result of thermal expansion.
16 Retighten the stuffing box, replace if necessary.
Check the temperature of the delivery medium – stator expansion too great – stator and rotor
17
are locked together – stator possibly burned out
Stuffing box packing: replace unserviceable rings (b, c, k); release the stuffing box cover (a,
18
h); tighten the stuffing box cover (b, c, k)
Solids content and/or grain size too high – install sieve with a permissible mesh width up-
19
stream of the pump
The solids form sediment which hardens when the pump is idle – flush through the pump
20
immediately; remove and clean if necessary
21 The medium hardens when it falls below a specific temperature – heat the medium
