Activity Prep #3 - How Will You Help?

Consider a problem and related customer/user (don’t worry if they are not your buyer, let’s just focus on user
experiences for now). This might something you considered in our previous classes, but you may consider a different
problem-solving challenge if you prefer. Write your responses to the questions below in the space provided.

1. Learn: Reflect on what you know about the problem you are addressing and the people you are helping. What
are people trying to accomplish in this situation (jobs), and what frustrations do they experience with respect to
unrealized gains or experienced pains.

The problem I will address is how to easily connect artists and their customers. The problem I plan to address is how to
connect local artists with customers interested in their work and services. People are trying to find artists that are local
to them to fulfill their needs in an easy an accessible way. The frustrations they experience is not being able to find
someone who is available, in their price range, and up to their expectations.

2. Summarize: Write your findings into two lists:

 Positive experiences they’d like to experience

They would like to have a product or service that meets expectations and those can differ by individual.

They would also like to know pricing and availability easily.

 Negative experiences they’d like to avoid

Not having their expectations met.

Going to someone for a product or service and not being sure about their work or experience.

3. Imagine: Imagine 5-7 novel solutions that might help your customer solve their problem.
 Do get extreme
 Do NOT judge your ideas (yet)
1. Calling the businesses to find out about their services and availability.
2. Creating an app that is like a mix between yelp and Instagram for artists to be rated and reviewed.
3. Having a blog post that rates local artists based on category.
4. Reaching out to friends or family to see who they use for services similar to what they are looking for.
5. Using social media to find pages with pictures of artists work and comparing.
6. Going to the web pages of businesses that employ the artists to see if they have bios or reviews.
