Bringing Qatar’s Vision of Knowledge Economy and Innovation
Through Cultural Exchange to New York City

During the week of September 24, 2018, the Qatar-America Institute (QAI) hosted
several events in New York City focused around education, science, technology,
culture, innovation, and the Qatar-America partnership. The week-long series of
events gathered key Qatari leaders in various fields to engage in conversations
aimed at broadening the cultural and economic relationship between the United
States and Qatar.
The events themselves provided attendees an opportunity to network, learn
about the vital U.S.-Qatar relationship, Qatar’s 2030 National Vision, have candid
discussions with senior Qatari officials who are at the forefront of the remarkable

New York City.
These events also symbolize QAI’s foray into a new city as QAI begins to export its programming outside
of Washington, DC to connect with new audiences and bridge new relationships. From networking events
to receptions hosted at the World Trade Center, the events were well received by a growing New York
network of individuals interested in the partnership between the U.S. and Qatar.

From open engagment to intimate discussions...

The public events hosted throughout the week took a variety of forms, from a panel
discussion on science and innovation in Qatar to a networking event celebrating
Qatar’s committment to education. Each of these events hosted many experts
and influencers local to New York who learned much about Qatar’s involvement in
education, science and technology, and were successful in providing a platform for
engagement and candid conversation between senior experts and those interested
in learning more about the U.S.-Qatari relationship. Some of the events were
recorded on video and compiled into reports so that larger audiences can access
the content from the events themselves.
The private dinners hosted twenty very senior members who engaged on highly
important topics regarding the U.S.-Qatar partnership. These intimate dinner
discussions centered around unique topics: Prominent Women in Leadership,
Energy and Energy Security, Science and Education, and Regional Peace and
State-Building.
