CLIMATIA 2019

Accuse not nature,

She hath done her part,
Do thou but thine!
Being proactive to Climate Change is something we owe to ourselves and to
our future generations, for this if not kept under check, has the potential to
obliterate life on the only planet known to nurture it. The last century has seen
this menace assume gigantic proportions, so much so that it has cast its gloomy
shadow on nature itself. This is a great cause of concern, not only for us but
also for mankind as a whole. It is indeed the need of the hour to either
reorientate or succumb.

Climate Education week was a septennial climate awareness campaign

organised by STHITHI a project initiated by the District Administration., hosted
by C POWER 5 and CITIZENS INDIA FOUNDATION., 25 volunteers were
identified to spread awareness about importance of green protocol, organic
farming, sustainable living etc…More than 125 NSS camps from Parassala to
Niamel were addressed and about 95 dumpsites were cleared under the
initiative of Udhyanam. The District was the ganglion on Proactive Change
discussions - climate action.

Thus was paved the way for the “CLIMATIA -2019-The Zenith Green
Ambassadors Conclave “presided by Shri. T.K.A Nair (Rtd.I.A.S and former
advisor of Prime Minister), Dr.D.Babu Paul (Rtd.I.A.S) and DrVasuki,
District Collector of Trivandrum.

CLIMATIA was organised in less than months’ time and held on 3rd February at
the State Central Library Auditorium. It was an action proposal encompassing
around 400 participants and 110 institutions.

Sustainable development is nothing but satisfying the needs of the present

generations without compromising and jeopardising the rights of the future
generations from satisfying their own needs. But the policy makers are framing
policies only at the centralised level to resolve the climate issues. The change
has to be initiated from grass-root level, from 21-27 of December, 2018 more
than 25 climate educators under the efficient leadership of the District
Administration and Team C POWER 5 sprang into action to bring about a
change and flagged off this with the CONCLAVE on 3rd February 2019, where
15 teams were selected from a total of 110 to speak their views on Climate
