Part 1- Introduction

I am completing my internship at South Phoenix Skyline Prep and Arts Academy. Skyline

Prep is located on 48th street and Baseline in Phoenix. This is a K-12 charter school. I am only in

the Elementary School so that is what my information will be based off. I am working with two

amazing women with over thirty years of teaching experience combined.

Part 2- The School and the School System

The K-4 Elementary SchoolSystem has a total population of 279. There are more females

than males.

The student population of Skyline elementary is quite diverse. This charter school is 99% title 1.

I was unable to get a lot of the demographics information; however, I easily observed that the

teacher diversity is just as diverse as the students.

The number of students receiving free lunch and breakfast is 100%.

Part 3- The Classroom

There are twenty-four beautiful students in my first grade classroom. Each child is

entirely different from the other. They make the classroom and school environment that much

more diverse. There are eighteen males and eight females in my classroom.

Part 4- Reflection

I wasn’t able to collect all of the data. Skyline Prep has three locations in Arizona and in

order to receive all of the demographics information I would need to put in a request at each

separate location. That is time consuming and I have a deadline.

Trying to get the data was frustrating because it was not online nor readily available for

people in the administrations office. I was given the information in the tables above.
