Topic: Is healthcare more equitable to compromise for more people that are lower income

families?

I feel that many people that need help or doctors advice cannot get that because they do

not have enough money to pay for it. So this topic sparked my interest because there are a

majority of poor people in our economy that do not even have health insurance which is an issue

for if something happens to them. I feel that people that have diseases or cancer should be able to

have lower cost health insurance because they have to pay for so much medicine like being able

to afford chemotherapy. Knowing that I actually want to major in medicine and do something in

the medical field, I want to help others; not just have to not help some because they do not have

the money or insurance to afford the service that they currently need. A story about the topic that

I have about the topic is in Grey's Anatomy which is a reflection(that is acted out) of how our

health society runs now. In this story, a man needed a tumor to be taken out but he did not have

enough funds to be able to afford getting the surgery or the medicine he would need after. So the

head neurosurgeon ended up giving him money for it because the patient signed up for his body

to be used toward science.

I feel that people should be able to have some kind of help with health issues they have

especially if it is cancer. Also I feel like some of the health costs and insurances should be lower

cost because not all low price health insurance covers enough. I believe insurances should give
more coverage when it comes to health insurance to insure people have what they need because

anything can happen. What I think about the topic before even researching it is that more people

should be able to get help or prices should be more equal depending on the income that family

has to be able to pay for what ifs. I believe many poor people need help with health insurance

because there are some people that get hurt on the streets and no one can help them because they

might not have the insurance for it. Dealing with this topic, I already know that lower health

insurance may never happen but it does not hurt to try to look deeper into the topic to see if it can

possibly happen in the future.

What I would like to know about the topic is; What are the most expensive factors of

health care that one has to deal with? How does the cost of equipment used in the hospital factor

into health care and insurance? What all helps factor in the high cost of healthcare within

medicine? I would like to know this questions because I know these both have to fator into

making healthcare so high priced, especially for the lower income families. I know that finding

the research deeper into these questions can help me retain what I need to know to fully

understand if healthcare can be compromised for lower income families or if it cannot be

lowered based on the amount of everything factoring into it.
