Hospital pharmacists are responsible for the dispensing and procurement of medicinal products
and supplies used in the hospital. Hospital pharmacists can also work in health centers, care
facilities, clinics, nursing homes and GP surgeries. Tasks and responsibilities, apart from the core
function of dispensing prescription medicines and supplies, include working with other medical
personnel to provide treatments and advice to patients, recording patient histories relating to
medicinal use, and ensuring the safe and secure storage of all medicines and hospital supplies.
Pharmacist duties:
Compounding & dispensing for indoor & outdoor patient department.
Preparation & sterilization of inject able medicine.
Filling & labeling of medical containers.
Proper dispensing of narcotic medicine.
Proper maintenance of records of narcotic medicine.
Maintains of sufficient stock of antidote for poisoning & emergency medicine.
Checking of the quality of the sources of purchase of all medicine, chemicals antibiotics,
biological products & other pharmaceutical preparation.
Detailing about medicine to physicians, internees & nurses etc.
Maintainers of proper system of all records.
Keeping controls over requisition & dispensing of all medicine.
Planning & executing the pharmacy & therapeutic committee.

Nursing Responsibility:
Registered nurses often work in hospitals or outpatient facilities, where they provide hands-on
care to patients by administering medications, managing intravenous lines, observing and
monitoring patients' conditions, maintaining records and communicating with doctors. They are
also relied upon to give direction and supervision to nurse aides and home health aides. Beyond
the physical support and care they provide, registered nurses may provide emotional support to
patients and patients' family members.
Nurse duties:

Checking the stock on a regular basis for maintaining the inventory level, and placing
orders if required.
Changing patient’s medication as indicated by their conditions and responses.
Adhering with the protocols, norms, rules and regulations in order to maintain complete
medical records.
Maintaining hygienic and safe working environment in compliance with the healthcare
procedures.
