Analysis and Comparison of Common Standard for Centrifugal

Pump
Abstract In this paper, API610, ISO5199, ANSIB73.1M / B73.2M and other standards commonly used in petroleum
and chemical centrifugal pumps are described and compared, and suggestions on how to use the above standards
in practical production are given.
Centrifugal pump has a wide range of performance, uniform flow, simple structure, reliable operation and easy
maintenance, and many other advantages, so centrifugal pumps in industrial production in the most widely used.
According to statistics, in the oil, chemical equipment, the use of centrifugal pumps accounted for 70 to 80% of the
total pump. In addition to the use of reciprocating pumps at high pressure and low flow rates, it is necessary to use a
metering pump when the metering pump is used, the vortex pump or the positive displacement pump (reciprocating
pump or rotor pump) and the viscous medium rotor pump are used. The Therefore, to understand and master the
common standard of centrifugal pumps, and according to different devices, different conditions to use the standard,
the centrifugal pump to meet the long cycle, safe operation and energy requirements, it is very necessary.
1 standard description
In the petroleum, chemical field, the most used centrifugal pump international standard is API610, ISO5199 and
ANSIB73.1M / B73.2M, etc., the domestic standard is GB3215 and GB5656 / T. These standards are described
below.
1.1API, is the American Petroleum Institute (AmericanPetroleumInstitute) for short. The purpose of the API610
standard is to provide a procurement specification to facilitate the manufacture and procurement of centrifugal
pumps.
API610 (seventh edition) is for centrifugal pumps for petroleum refineries, and its standard is called "Centrifugal
Pumps for Genuine Refinery Services". But in fact, the use of API610 standard is not only the oil refinery, oil,
chemicals, natural gas and other fields are often used API610 standard. In order to apply this requirement, API610
(eighth edition), promulgated in 1995, was renamed as "Centrifugal Pumps for Petroleum, Heavy Chemical, and Gas
Industry Services", and in the content of the previous version There is a big change.
API610 on energy conservation issues of concern. API610 requires manufacturers and factories to actively seek
innovative energy-saving methods in the manufacturing, selection and operation of equipment. If this energy-saving
method can improve efficiency and reduce the total cost of the use without sacrificing safety or reliability, it should be
encouraged. The other criteria for selecting the equipment should be based on the total cost of the equipment during
the life of the equipment, rather than the purchase cost of the equipment.
Currently in the field of petroleum and chemical industry, API610 is the most frequent use of international standards
for centrifugal pumps. International Organization for Standardization also adopted the API610 standard, paid to the
standard number ISO / CD13709.
1.2 ISO5199
ISO is the abbreviation of the International Organization for Standardization. ISO5199 Technical Specification for
Centrifugal Pumps, Class II (Centrifugal Pump Specification II), mainly based on the German DIN standard. Its
dimensions, performance in line with ISO2858 standard; base in line with ISO3661; mechanical seal or soft packing
with the size of the cavity in line with ISO3069; performance test B class in line with ISO3555, C class in line with
ISO2548.
China's GB5656, Germany's DINISO5199, France NFISO5199 equivalent to ISO5199; British BS6836 equivalent to
ISO5199. China GB5662, Germany DIN24256, British BS5257, France NFE44121, equivalent or equivalent
ISO2858.
1.3 ASMEB73.1M / B73.2M
ASME is the short name of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. ASMEB73.1M-1991 Specification for
Horizontal End Suction Centrifugal Pumps for ChemicalProcess and ASMEB73.2M-1991 Specification for VerticalIn-
lineCentrifugal Pumps for Chemical Process is a US national standard, Pump manufacturers and chemical
production plants jointly prepared, in line with these two standards of the pump, known as the ANSI pump.
The remaining ASME chemical pump standards are:
ASMEB73.3M-1996 Specification for Thermoplastical and Thmoset Polymer Material Horizontal End Suction
Centrifugal Pumps for Chemical Process (Horizontal Axial Inhalation Thermoplastics, Thermosetting Resin Chemical
Centrifugal Pump).
ASMEB73.5M-1995 Specification for Sealless Horizontal End Suction Centrifugal Pumps for Chemical Process
(Horizontal Axial Inhalation Leakless Chemical Centrifugal Pump).
1.4GB3215
China National Standard GB3215-89 "Refinery, chemical and petrochemical process with centrifugal pump general
technical conditions" basic reference API610 sixth edition prepared.

11/2/2019 Analysis and Comparison of Common Standard for Centrifugal Pump

China National Standard GB5656 / T-94 "single-stage, single suction chemical centrifugal pump technical conditions"
with reference to ISO5199 prepared. The relevant standards such as GB5662 "axial suction centrifugal pump
(16Bar) marked, performance and size" with reference to ISO2858, GB5661 "axial suction centrifugal pump
mechanical seal and soft packing with the cavity size" with ISO3069, GB5660 "axial suction centrifugal Pump base
and mounting dimensions "with reference to ISO3661. Hydraulic performance tests are carried out at Class C or B of
the GB3216 "Centrifugal Pump, Mixed Flow Pump, Axial Flow Pump and Vortex Pump Test Method" (see ISO 2548,
ISO 3555).
2 standard comparison
2.1 ISO pumps and ANSI pumps
ISO 5199 (including the equivalent or reference to the national standards of the standard, such as China's GB /
T5656), ANSIB73.1M / B73.2M standard pairs, light load of oil, chemical centrifugal pumps, drives and auxiliary
equipment in the design, manufacture , Inspection, testing and delivery status and other aspects of the basic
requirements. The scope and requirements of these two types of standards are basically the same, the scope of
application of the parameters are as follows:
(1) rated discharge pressure ≤ 1.96MPa (G);
(2) medium temperature <260 ℃;
(3) drive power ≤ 110kW;
(4) Maximum speed <3600r / min;
(5) rated head ≤ 120m;
(6) the maximum suction pressure ≤ 0.5MPa (G);
(7) the maximum impeller diameter ≤ 333mm.
Chemical centrifugal pumps conforming to ISO 5199 (including national standards equivalent to or referenced to this
standard) are called ISO pumps. Chemical centrifugal pumps conforming to ANSIB73.1M / B73.2M are called NSI
pumps. among them:
(1) ISO5199 (including the equivalent or reference to the national standard of the standard) for horizontal cantilever
centrifugal pumps;
(2) ASMEB73.1M standard only applies to the horizontal installation of horizontal cantilever centrifugal pump;
(3) ASMEB73.2M standard for vertical pipeline centrifugal pump, that is, Table 1 OH3, OH4, OH5.
ISO pumps or ANSI pumps in the material, design, manufacturing and testing requirements are lower than the API
pump, so the reliability is relatively poor, of course, the price is much cheaper. This type of pump to meet the
requirements of general chemical use, commonly used in flammable, dangerous and other requirements are not too
high occasions. The United States DURCO company MARK Ⅲ series, GOULDS company 3196 series, Switzerland
Sulzer and Dalian acid pump factory CZ series, Japan Ebara's IFW, IFS series and China's IH series (including
improved series) and so on are such Pump.
2.2API610
API610 offers minimal requirements for centrifugal pumps for the petroleum, heavy chemical and natural gas
industries, including pumps used as hydraulic recovery turbines. API610-compliant centrifugal pumps are often
referred to as API pumps. API pump continuous operation cycle of at least 3 years, high reliability. API pumps are
available in a wide range of pumps, including three types of pumps, Overhung, BetweenBearings and Vertical
Suspended. As shown in Table 1. OH1, OH4, OH5 are available only when the purchaser has specified and the
manufacturer has proven to be experienced in such a pump.
The United States INGERSOLL-RAND-PUMPS company SVCN7 (single-stage horizontal pump), GOULDS
company's 3700 (single-stage horizontal pump), 3900 (pipeline pump), Switzerland Sulzer and Dalian acid pump
plant ZA, ZE, ZF , ZU (single-stage horizontal pump), ETL (pipeline pump), Japan's Ebara company's UCW (single-
stage horizontal pump), Shenyang Pump Factory SJA (single-stage horizontal pump) and other series are API
cantilever pump OH2 or OH3).
To Zul'u's ZA, ZE, ZF, ZU series, for example, the scope of application parameters are as follows:
(1) rated discharge pressure ≤ 15MPa (G);
(2) medium temperature -112 ~ 400 ℃;
(3) rated head ≤ 300m;
(4) the maximum impeller diameter ≤ 630mm.
For non-flammable, non-hazardous media, API610 provides that when the pump inlet pressure <0.5MPa (gauge
pressure), outlet pressure <1.9MPa (gauge pressure), pumping temperature <150 ℃, speed <3600r / min, rated lift
<120m, impeller diameter (cantilever pump) <330mm, it is not required to comply with API610 throughout the
standard. But in terms of service life, materials, shaft stiffness, mechanical seals, bearings, auxiliary pipelines, etc.
should be consistent with the relevant requirements of API610, requiring the buyer in the inquiry should specify
which requirements can be relaxed.
2.3 How to use centrifugal pump standard
Petroleum, chemical field, how to choose the standard according to the installation of the pump and the pump, the
significance is great.

11/2/2019 Analysis and Comparison of Common Standard for Centrifugal Pump

When the parameters of the centrifugal pump are in the light load, that is, the suction pressure ≤ 0.5MPa (G), the
discharge pressure ≤1.96MPa (G), the medium temperature <260 ℃, the rated head ≤ 120m, the drive power ≤
110Kw, Case, the choice of API610 pump better. # R-w & h0v'Uo # Q
(1) the medium delivered by the centrifugal pump is particularly flammable or dangerous;
(2) no equipment pump, and the higher reliability requirements;
(3) requires a continuous operation of the pump cycle is longer. In addition, the use of ISO5199 pump or ANSI pump
can reduce the purchase cost of equipment.
When the centrifugal pump beyond the medium and light load range, the use of API610 standard centrifugal pump,
its performance and reliability can be guaranteed.
3 standard column comparison
In order to facilitate API610 (only cantilever pump), GB / T5656 (see ISO5199), ANSIB73.1M / B73.2M standard
comparison, the contents of the relevant columns listed in tabular form.
