To Whom It May Concern:

Thank you for taking the time to read my cover letter, resume, and letters of recommendations. I
am a senior at Northern State University majoring in Elementary Education. My intended
graduation date is May of 2019. I was very excited to receive an email from the Teacher Job
Placement service listing an Upper Elementary Teaching position in your school district.

I have had the opportunity, through the Northern State University Teaching program, to take
place in additional placements. I learned a great deal about the implementation of small group
and one-on-one work with students through the experience I had last spring in Britton. I also
used that experience to engage students in a whole group noun lesson that I had planned. It was a
great chance to show a cooperating teacher what I had planned and to get feedback from that.
Another great experience I’ve had is the opportunity to take part in the NSU Reading Clinic. In
the Reading Clinic, we are introduced to a student who would like help advancing in their
school’s reading program. We are tasked with tutoring them in concepts we had learned last
semester in the Reading Methods class. We also were asked to implement reading assessments
like the Gray Oral Reading Test and the Test of Written Spelling. Through this experience I have
learned that you have to be flexible. You have to be able to adjust to any situation. I am currently
in my Student Teaching placement, where I am tasked with planning lessons for every subject
for every day. I am currently a member of SDEA and work at a daycare in Britton. I love the
work and am able to implement some of the techniques we learned through the program.
