improvement of these statement
Statement 1
This research aims to find out what people think about television.
Problems.
The statement does not reflect the target audience of the television market. It generalizes all
people as the audience of television. The statement doesn’t consider the finances of people
whether the can actually afford televisions. The statement is directed to receive certain types of
favourable responses.
Questions.

 Who would be concerned by such a research?


 What is the research all about?
 Where do you find people for such a research?
 When will such a research take place?
 Why must such a research be carried out?

Improved statement.
This research aims to show the importance of television in the lives of people who use it and the
effects of its absence in their lives.

Statement 2
My study is to some research into HIV disease to find out what people do when their relatives
have it and what support they can get and how nurses deal with it
Problems
The statement does not address the effects of HIV infected before trying to link it to how their
relatives react when they get infected. The aspect of nurses in the problem statements not
needed. It is a far-fetched point from the real issues of the problem.
Questions

 Who are those who mostly infected with HIV?


 What is study all about?
 Where do you find predominant HIV infections?
 When do people realize they have been infected?
 Why is this study so important to me?
Improved Statement.
My study is to some research into HIV disease to find out what people do when their relatives
have it and what support mechanisms that can be offered to them from all of society.

Statement 3.
I want to find out how many of the local residents are interested in a play scheme for children
during X’mas holidays.
Problem.
The statement does not factor the parents and guardians of these children. Local residents is an
overly large range to focus on.
Questions

 Who are the most important people to be considered to make this play fruitful, children
or their parents?
 What is the impact of such a play on the children and the local residents?
 Where in the town be most suitable for the play?
 When would the play make the most impression on the community and get numerous
participants?
 Why am initiating such a research?

I want to find out how many children are interested in a play scheme during X’mas holidays.
